Voting season is coming up!

Social media has always been a place for everyone to express their feelings and thoughts. However, there are rules and regulations regarding how military members should conduct these actions when voicing political views and opinions. As Marines, we have a standard of professionalism and bearing we must uphold daily. See the do's and don'ts of MARADMIN 662/19 and DoD Directive 1334.10 for more information.

Today we celebrate Women’s Equality Day!

The 19th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees all American women the right to vote. However, this was only the beginning of the fight for women’s equality in America. It was not until the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 that women of all colors and ethnicities were allowed to participate in the election of political candidates.

Did you know that when a Marine Expeditionary Unit deploys with a Navy Amphibious Ready Group we embark on three different ships?
A Helicopter Landing Dock (LHD), also known as the "large deck" ship, resembles a small aircraft carrier.
A Landing Platform Dock (LPD), known as a "middle deck" ship, contains a smaller flight deck than an LHD and a well deck to launch amphibious vehicles.
Lastly, is the Dock Landing Ship (LSD), the "small deck", that contains a platform for helicopters and a well deck to launch landing craft and amphibious vehicles.

#OnThisDay Private First Class James Anderson Jr. was the first African American awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor, in history, for his actions on February 28, 1967 during the Vietnam War. While in a decisive engagement, Anderson used his body to shield his comrades from an enemy grenade blast during a firefight. Anderson's disregard for his own life prevented severe harm to those around him from the explosion. He gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Happy National Aviation Day!

An MV-22B Osprey executes flight operations to Vaernes Garrison, Norway, Oct.26, 2018. Marine Air Group 29 transported personnel and equipment from USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) to an air base there, in order to better support Trident Juncture 18.

Osprey’s are a common aviation asset for Marine Expeditionary Units. These tiltrotor aircraft are capable of transporting personnel, equipment and supplies from ship to shore via vertical takeoff and landing abilities.
