𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬!

What an incredible evening celebrating our community alongside our first responders. We were thrilled to welcome more than 500 community members to Arena Park for an evening filled with fun, food, games, activities and plenty of opportunities to build relationships.

Events like National Night Out remind us that public safety is strongsest when a community comes together. Whether you stopped by to meet an officer, let the kids enjoy the activities, grabbed dinner from a food truck, or stayed for the fireworks, thank you for making the night such a tremendous success.

A special thank you goes out to our volunteers, community partners, sponsors, vendors, and everyone who helped make this event possible. It truly takes a team, and we couldn't have done it without your support.

We already can't wait for National Night Out 2027. Until then, thank you, Cape Girardeau, for showing what makes our community so special!

𝗜-𝟱𝟱 𝗠𝗠 𝟵𝟱 𝗙𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗥 𝗩𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗖𝗟𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗛

On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m., officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to Interstate 55 at the 95 Southbound mile marker in reference to a motor vehicle crash with injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that traffic was backed up and at a standstill due to road construction and the right lane being shut down. A 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling southbound. The Dodge Ram struck a 2011 Honda Accord in the rear that was stopped in traffic projecting the Accord over the cable barrier into the median. The Ram then went airborne, landing on top of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The Impala was then pushed forward into a 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe which was pushed into a Volkswagen Tiguan.

The occupants of the Honda Accord were transported to an area hospital for serious injuries where the passenger later succumbed to her injuries. The occupants of the Chevrolet Impala were also transported for moderate injuries.

Officers arriving on the scene located the following vehicles:

Driver 5 (D5) Abbey Hussey (30) Cape Girardeau, MO

The Cape Girardeau Police Department reconstruction team continues to investigate this incident.

**UPDATE**

Roadway was reopened at approximately 6:30PM

Officers are working a crash on I-55 SB near the 94mm. Traffic is being diverted to Kingshighway and Hwy74. Use caution in the area and give responders room to work.

We've been planning, organizing, moving tables, making maps, answering emails, drinking way too much coffee, and making sure everything is ready for one incredible evening.

Tomorrow night, all that's missing is 𝐘𝐎𝐔!

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁

On July 25, 2026, at about 10:15 p.m., an officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department conducted a traffic stop near Bloomfield Rd. and S. West End for a traffic violation.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Adrian Brown (42) of Cape Girardeau, MO. Brown stated he was on parole and unprompted, advised officers they could search the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a white powder substance in the center console based on their training and experience believed to be co***ne.

Officers advised Brown he was being detained and Brown turned and ran from the officers a short distance before being taken into custody.

Brown was transported to the Cape Girardeau Police Department where officers observed Brown attempting to place what they believed to be illegal narcotics under the backseat of the patrol vehicle. Officers recovered the item believed to be co***ne. The total weight of the suspected co***ne was approximately 19.43 grams. Brown was also in possession of a large quantity of US Currency. The denominations of the bills, specifically the large quantity of $20.00 bills, is consistent with the street value of co***ne sales.

Brown was formally charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office with, Class C Felony of delivery of a controlled substance, Class E Felony of resisting an arrest, and Class C Misdemeanor of failure to stop. Brown is currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

An offense charge is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
