Updated Information..
•MoDOT will start closing the double bridges now on Highway Z the week of the 24th according the digital sign on Highway Z.
•I spoke with the County Emergency Management Office, they confirmed with the County Highway Department that CR 227 and a section of CR 226 paving project will start on Aug 24th and last approximately 4 to 5 days. (This has been passed onto the project manager of the MoDOT project).
•You all have asked really good questions, and I reached out to MoDOT for answers in regard to detour signs and CR 222. Here is the response.
- Detour routes (Z, F, A and 25) will have signs.
- MoDOT will add the detour information and visual information to the road closure notification and put it out on the new release, project webpage and social media.
- CR222 intersection will have temporary widening during construction. It may be closed for short durations but the contractor and the MoDOT construction team will coordinate with the county.

An item I forgot to add to the orginal post but added to the comments during feedback. Some of the time delay for this project, is it has a unique piece to it with the Village Sewer Access Point between the two bridges, so in keeping that available to be reached in time of need or emergency, MoDOT is having to do the bridges one at a time.

As your Fire Chief, I want to make everyone aware of an important change that will affect many of us beginning the week of August 17.

After reaching out directly to MoDOT, I confirmed that Route Z will be completely closed at the bridge while replacement work is underway. This project is expected to last approximately 13 months.

I know this isn't just another road closure. Route Z is one of the main thoroughfare routes for our community and for the many people who travel through our area every day. This closure will affect daily commutes, school traffic, local businesses, and emergency response.

Our Command Staff is already planning alternate routes for emergency response during the closure and is coordinating with our mutual aid partners so everyone is prepared. We will continue doing everything we can to provide timely emergency service to our community.

I ask for your patience as we all adjust to this long-term project. Please allow extra travel time, follow the posted detours, and remember that emergency vehicles may be using alternate routes as well.

We'll continue to share updates as we receive them from MoDOT.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your continued support of your fire department.

Looking for a way to get involved, serve your community, and learn more about the fire service? 🚒🔥

Our Junior Firefighter Program is looking for local young people ages 16–18 who live within our 77-square-mile district and attend a local high school or is homeschooled.

We currently have one Junior Firefighter actively training and serving alongside our department members. We limit the program to five Junior Firefighters at a time so we can provide quality training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.

Our Juniors help around the station and district, train with our members, and work through their probationary task books as they prepare for full membership after graduation.

The program is structured to keep school first. Junior Firefighters must meet grade requirements and follow a curfew while balancing school, family, and their commitment to the department.

It’s a great opportunity to build leadership skills, gain real-world experience, make a difference in the community, and find out if the fire service is the right path for you.

We’re proud of the dedication our current Junior Firefighter has shown to Gordonville, and we’d love to welcome a few more motivated young people to the team!

Interested or know someone who might be? Send us a message to learn more about our Junior Firefighter Program or apply online.🚒🔥

Hot summer days, heavy gear, and long responses make hydration a top priority. Thanks to and for the generous donation of DripDrop electrolyte drink mix as part of the 2026 DripDrop Hydration Giveback Campaign. This will help us fight dehydration and keep our crews at their best.

Today, the HEAT has caused a statewide shade of PINK. Missouri is looking a little rosy but the temps not so much. 🥵 Hydrate & avoid outdoor activities during the triple digit heat index values these next couple of days. Take the extreme heat warning seriously & stay cool!
