🚨 **OLIVER COUNTY FIRE EMERGENCY DECLARATION & TOTAL BURN BAN** 🚨
**Effective August 10, 2026**

Due to continued **dry conditions and significant amounts of available vegetation and fuel**, the **Oliver County Commission has declared a Fire Emergency and Total Burn Ban for all of Oliver County, including incorporated cities.**

# # # 🔥 THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS ARE NOW IN EFFECT:

🚫 **NO OPEN BURNING** of any kind, including:

* Garbage burning
* Campfires
* Fire pits
* Fireworks
* Other open burning

🚗 **Vehicles must remain on established roadways.**
This includes cars, pickups, ATVs/UTVs, motorcycles, and other motorized or wheeled vehicles.

🌾 Farmers, ranchers, and anyone traveling off-road for industrial or business purposes should carry **fire extinguishers and normal firefighting equipment**, including shovels and water.

# # # 🍔 GAS GRILL EXCEPTION

**The responsible use of gas grills is permitted** when they are used at a **safe distance from combustible materials** and on a suitable non-combustible surface.

⚠️ Please use extreme caution. Dry grass and vegetation can ignite quickly.

# # # 🚨 IMPORTANT

Local volunteer fire departments are already responding to multiple fires in the area and may become **overextended as resources are committed to multiple incidents.**

This burn ban will remain in effect until rescinded and will be reviewed periodically as conditions improve.

Violations of the burn restriction may result in criminal penalties, including **a fine of up to $1,500 and/or up to 30 days in jail.** The Oliver County Sheriff's Department is authorized to issue citations to violators.

**Please take this burn ban seriously. One spark can become a wildfire.**
