It’s Follow-Up Friday, and we’re sharing a special update from Facility Dog 🐾 Teddy at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Teddy first met this young patient shortly after she was extubated in the ICU. When Teddy climbed onto her bed, she smiled, reached out to pet him, and he settled in beside her, sharing his calm presence.

That first visit became the beginning of a special therapeutic friendship. Throughout her hospital stay, she continued to request visits from Teddy. Together, they snuggled, smiled, played fetch, and found little moments of normalcy in the middle of hospital life.

And on discharge day? Teddy’s team got to watch her walk out of the hospital with a huge smile.

She even created this incredible portrait and bracelet for her four-legged friend. A pretty special reminder of the connection they shared.

These are the moments that show just how meaningful the presence of a Facility Dog can be.

A special thank you to all who donated during our Day of Pawsitivity!

Together, this community raised just over $12,000 to fund 24 follow-up visits for DBL Service Dog Teams. That means more trainers at the door, more questions answered, more skills refreshed, and more Teams reminded that DBL's commitment lasts a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who gave, shared, commented, and sent in dog photos and stories. You helped keep the bond between dogs and people strong long after placement day.

Sticker sheets are on their way to every donor, and we'll be reaching out to our three T-shirt winners directly.

From all of us at Dogs for Better Lives: thank you for being part of something bigger.

Bark 2 School with Assistance Dog in Training 🐾 Pumpkin!

This fun back-to-school photoshoot was more than just a chance to capture some adorable pictures. Pumpkin practiced leaving props alone, holding positions for longer periods, and working at a distance from her handler.

Great training and seriously, how stinkin’ cute is she?! Wishing all students, teachers, school staff, and families a wonderful school year!

Every Service Dog Team has a beginning. But the real story keeps unfolding — in school hallways, apartment kitchens, busy sidewalks, family routines, and quiet moments of courage.

Since April 2025, Facility Dog 🐾 Misty has worked alongside Carrie in Grants Pass, OR, at a Child Advocacy Center. Misty is often the first face children see when they walk into the center. She greets them by the door and stays with the child for the entire time they are there. Carrie says Misty can sense when the children really need the emotional support and will go and press her head to their chest, offering that pressure, warmth and sense of safety as they navigate through the next steps.

Only a few hours remain to double your impact and help support our lifetime commitment. Gifts are matched up to $10,000 until 11:59 p.m. tonight.

This is where DBL's lifetime commitment becomes real.

During a follow-up visit with our Service Dog teams, DBL trainers check in with our clients and dogs to ensure the team continues to thrive. That may include refreshing a task, troubleshooting a challenge, building confidence in a new setting, or strengthen daily routines.

Our client Nicole shares, “Lifetime commitment is so important to me- I know that Freya will be with me through many life changes, and lifetime commitment ensures that when we need extra training and help when circumstances change, DBL will be there to support us through it! I never would have been able to afford a Service Dog on my own. Donor support makes my independence and partnership with Freya possible”

Your gift today could help fund follow-up visits like this one — ensuring our Service Dog teams are supported and set up to thrive for years to come.

The match is live until 11:59 p.m. tonight. Give now to double your impact.

From Shelter to Service Dog 🐾 Bella Rue’s big travel day is coming up, and we can’t believe how quickly the last six months have flown by!

To help her prepare, she headed to DFW Airport for some important practice navigating the sights, sounds, crowds, and constant activity of a busy airport. Experiences like this help our dogs in training build the confidence and focus they’ll need wherever their journey takes them.

Great job taking on the airport hustle, Bella Rue!
