Join us Saturday June 20th for a Community Cleanup Day!

ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE DUMPED ARE:

• Household hazardous wastes (HHW) such as cleaners, bleach, paint and other chemicals (i.e. pool chemicals, pesticides, etc.);
• Automobile fluids, such as motor oil, antifreeze, and brake fluid;
• Explosives, such as fireworks;
• Any flammable liquid;
• Sealed 55-gallon barrels;
• Scrap tires;
• Lead-acid batteries (i.e. car batteries);
• Debris containing asbestos;
• Certain appliances that contain toxic chemicals, such as refrigerators, containing freon;
• Dead animals;
• Televisions; monitors, computers, batteries, copiers, fax machines, telephone, and fluorescent lights

Unfortunately, illegal dumping of used oil and filters is a common issue on our county roads, but proper disposal is FREE and EASY!

Residents can recycle oil and filters at no cost at any AutoZone or O'Reilly Auto Parts location, or at the Stanislaus County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, open every Friday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

If you live in the unincorporated area of the county, you may also qualify for FREE curbside pickup of used oil and filters right from your home.

⚠️ CONSUMER ALERT ⚠️

Anyone who purchased grape plants from Costco between April 21 and May 21, 2026, is being asked to contact the Stanislaus County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office as soon as possible.

Agricultural officials are concerned the plants may carry the glassy-winged sharpshooter (GWSS), an invasive insect capable of spreading Pierce’s disease, a bacterial infection that is often fatal to grapevines.

If you purchased a grape plant from Costco during this timeframe:

• Contact the Stanislaus County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office at (209) 525-4730 or [email protected] to report your plant and receive inspection instructions.
• Keep the plant isolated in its original pot or container.
• Do not plant, transport, relocate, or attempt to return the plant.
• Do not place the plant in the trash or compost bin.

Costco is directly notifying customers who purchased the affected grape plants and offering refunds.
