"So Far Gone"
by Jess Walter

At Thanksgiving a few years back, former journalist Rhys Kinnick punched his son-in-law in the mouth, chucked his smartphone out a car window and fled for a cabin in the woods. Now his old life is standing on his crumbling doorstep. Can this failed husband and father, a man with no internet and a car that barely runs, reemerge into the world to track down his missing daughter and save his grandchildren from the members of a dangerous militia? This novel by Jess Walter is a rollicking and heartrending adventure about a broken man determined to set things right in an increasingly divided America.

Upcoming BookTalkers Selections:
July 20: "Family of Spies" by Christine Kuehn
August 17: "Culpability" by Bruce Holsinger
September 21: "How to Commit a Postcolonial Murder" by Nina McConigley

Magazines, Entertainment, Databases, and More!

Aside from books, media, and programming, your tax dollars make it possible for the Charlevoix Public Library to provide a wealth of digital resources right at your fingertips. From the thousands of magazines available through Libby, to the tens of thousands of documentary, independent film, world cinema, and educational titles on Kanopy, to the invaluable product insights offered by Consumer Reports*— and so much more—your library card opens the door to an incredible range of information.

These resources are available to you anytime, anywhere, at no additional cost. We invite you to explore, learn, and enjoy everything your library provides. If you ever need help getting started, our staff is always here to assist you.

If our resources don't offer the information you need, visit Mel.org. MeL Databases are a collection of online research tools provided to all Michigan residents for free. They offer reliable, high-quality information—such as articles, research papers, genealogy resources, homework help, and more— from trusted sources you won’t find through a basic web search.

Mel.org and MeLCat are funded by grants from the IMLS, the State of Michigan, and the Library of Michigan Foundation.

*Additional funding for Consumer Reports is provided by the Northland Library Cooperative
