June 12th is recognized as National Button Battery Awareness Day. Every year, children gain access to button batteries through items like remotes, fobs, toys, and other small electronics. NC Poison Control managed 110 exposures to button batteries in 2025.

Watch this PSA on button battery safety, take inventory of the products in your home that contain button batteries, and ensure they are closed securely. Call NC Poison Control if you think someone has swallowed a button battery: 1-800-222-1222.

ALERT: NC Poison Control is seeing an increase in teens and young adults misusing or abusing antihistamines. Taking antihistamines improperly can cause serious side effects like seizures, heart dysfunction, multi-organ failure, and even death.

Remember, just because a medicine is over-the-counter (OTC) doesn't mean it's safe. In excessive amounts, OTC medications can be more dangerous than prescription medications.

Parents, watch this PSA with your teens and talk about taking medications safely. If there's been a medication overdose, call us anytime day or night at 1-800-222-1222.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
