**🌽πŸ₯• National Farmers Market Week πŸ₯¬πŸ…**

Fresh food does more than fill our tables. It strengthens neighborhoods, supports local farmers, and helps build healthier communities for everyone.

At United Way of Greater Charlotte, we know that access to nutritious food is an important part of creating opportunities for families to thrive. That's why we're proud to celebrate **National Farmers Market Week** and the people, organizations, and community partners working every day to make fresh, healthy food more accessible across our region.

This week, consider:
🍎 Shopping at your local farmers market
πŸ₯• Supporting local growers and small businesses
🌱 Learning about food access initiatives in your community
🀝 Sharing the experience with family, friends, or neighbors

Together, we can help create stronger communities and healthier futuresβ€”one local purchase at a time. https://unitedwaygreaterclt.org/blog/get-involved/growing-stronger-communities-one-market-at-a-time/

Charlotte Shines When We Work Together.

This week, Charlotte is welcoming thousands of visitors for MLS All-Star Week, and the excitement is a reminder of what makes our region special. When people come together with a shared purpose, incredible things can happen.

At United Way of Greater Charlotte, we see that same spirit every day. For 95 years, we've been bringing together neighbors, businesses, nonprofit partners, and community leaders to strengthen neighborhoods and create pathways to economic opportunity.

The spotlight may be on Charlotte this week, but the work of building a stronger community continues long after the final whistle.

Finally a Girl Scout. πŸ’š

Growing up, one member of our United Way of Greater Charlotte team always dreamed of becoming a Girl Scout. She never had the chance as a child, but during a recent visit to Girl Scouts Hornets' Nest Council, one of our funded nonprofit partners, that childhood dream finally came true.

While her story is personal, it also reflects something much bigger.

Every day, Girl Scouts Hornets' Nest Council is helping girls across our region build confidence, discover their strengths, and develop leadership skills that last a lifetime. Their impact also extends beyond the girls they serve by inspiring volunteers, mentors, and women in the community to lead, give back, and invest in the next generation.

That's why United Way invests in nonprofit partners like Girl Scouts, creating opportunities that help today's girls become tomorrow's leaders while strengthening our entire community.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to belong, contribute, and thrive.

This Disability Pride Month, we're celebrating the strengths, leadership, and lived experiences of people with disabilities while recognizing the importance of building communities that are accessible and inclusive for everyone.

At United Way of Greater Charlotte, we're proud to work alongside nonprofit partners who are expanding opportunities, increasing access, and helping people of all abilities thrive across Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, and Anson counties.

When nonprofits, businesses, volunteers, donors, and neighbors come together, we create stronger communities for everyone.

✈️ Different paths. One destination.

Recently, our team traded laptops for paper airplanes.

Each group selected a different airplane design, convinced theirs would fly the farthest. Some soared. Some took unexpected detours. Every flight taught us something new.

The biggest lesson wasn't about whose airplane traveled the greatest distance. It was about how different perspectives strengthen the outcome.

No two teams approached the challenge the same way, yet every group contributed ideas that helped us learn and grow together.

That's the same approach we bring to our work every day at United Way of Greater Charlotte. Lasting change doesn't happen because everyone thinks alike. It happens when people with different experiences, strengths, and ideas come together around a shared goal.

Because when we value diverse thinking, we all go farther together. πŸ’™

What if the secret to collective impact is as simple as a potluck? 🍽️

One of the most memorable moments from Meck Design Day 3.0 came from a spoken word artist who shared a simple but powerful message:

"We're not being asked to admire the feast. We're being asked to bring a dish."

That idea perfectly reflects how lasting change happens. Strong communities aren't built by one organization alone. They're built when neighbors, nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders each bring their unique strengths to the table.

We explore this powerful analogy in our latest blog and what it means for all of us working to strengthen our community.

πŸ’™ Thank you for showing up for Anson County.

Because of your incredible generosity, together we've already raised more than $6,000 to help provide bottled water to families affected by the ongoing water crisis.

Every gift is helping ensure our neighbors have access to one of life's most basic necessities: clean, safe water.

The need continues, and there's still time to make a difference.

πŸ’™ Stand with Anson County. Help Provide Clean Water.

A major water main break has left approximately half of Anson County under a boil water advisory, while the other half is expected to be without water for another seven to ten days.

The need is especially urgent for older adults, children, and individuals with special medical needs who rely on distilled or bottled water for food preparation, medications, and daily care.

United Way of Greater Charlotte is working with local leaders and emergency response partners to help provide bottled water directly to residents affected by this crisis.

Every gift makes a difference.

A day of service. A lasting impact. πŸ’™

Live United Day with Lakeview Neighborhood Alliance Lakeview CLT reminded us what happens when a community comes together around a shared purpose.

Volunteers, residents, and community partners rolled up their sleeves to beautify neighborhood spaces, strengthen connections, and invest in a community that continues to lead its own transformation. Every project completed and every conversation shared helped build momentum for lasting change.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and made this day possible. Together, we're strengthening nonprofits and neighborhoods across Greater Charlotte.
