Helping older adults in Mecklenburg County live their best lives through programs and support.

Adventures in Learning- provides extended learning for older adults. Each quarter a new series of elective classes in history, art, religion, writing and recreational subjects are offered. Travel - trips are designed by senior volunteers with seniors in mind. Income Tax Assistance - In cooperation with AARP, trained volunteers help tax payers complete and file Federal and State income tax returns.

SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) Health Insurance Assistance
- Trained volunteers help senior adults find the right Medicare supplemental coverage, explore long-term care insurance options and assist in filing benefits. Transportation - volunteers provide rides to medical services, dental and physical therapy appointments as well as grocery store, bank and other necessary errands. Handyman Services - volunteers perform small repairs to help keep older adults' homes safe and viable.

What a fantastic start to our Summer Adventures in Learning! ☀️📚

A big thank you to Tom Hanchett for an engaging presentation on Women Changing Charlotte: 1970s. He has a gift for making history come alive, and our participants loved sharing their own memories along the way. Thank you as well to Susan for the wonderful introduction!

The best part of the morning? Seeing old friends reconnect, welcoming new faces, and hearing conversations continue long after the presentation ended. We’re so excited for four weeks of learning, laughter, and community. See you next Monday! ❤️

♻️ We had a trash-tastic time at the Innovation Barn CLT today! 🏗️✨

Our Travel Adventures group got an inside look at how Charlotte is turning waste into opportunity through creativity, innovation, and sustainability. From plastic recycling and composting to food waste solutions and the circular economy, we discovered that one person’s “trash” really can become someone else’s treasure! 🌎💚

A huge thank you to the Innovation Barn team for an inspiring and hands-on tour. We left with plenty of ideas for reducing waste and making a positive impact in our own communities!
