🚨 Drive sober. Get home safe.

From Aug. 19 through Sept. 7, nearly 300 Minnesota law enforcement agencies—including the Carver County Sheriff’s Office and Chaska Police Department—are increasing patrols and enforcement to combat impaired driving.

So far in 2026, Minnesota has seen:
• 62 alcohol-related traffic fatalities
• 179 serious injuries
• 13,670 DWI arrests

Minnesota’s BAC limit is 0.08%, but you can be arrested at lower levels if you’re impaired. A DWI can also mean significant fines, license loss, jail time and ignition interlock requirements.

If you’ve been drinking, don’t drive. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare or make plans to stay overnight.

Make the safe choice. Drive Minnesota toward zero deaths.

🚓 Traffic Stop Safety Clinic 🚓

Getting pulled over can be stressful, especially if it's your first time behind the wheel. Our goal is to help new drivers know exactly what to expect during a traffic stop so they can feel confident, safe, and prepared.

Join members of the Carver County Sheriff's Office for a FREE Traffic Stop Safety Clinic designed for new and young drivers, as well as those preparing to earn their permit.

📅 Saturday, August 22, 2026
🕙 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
📍 Chanhassen City Hall
7700 Market Blvd., Chanhassen

During the clinic, participants will:
• Learn what happens during a traffic stop and what deputies expect.
• Understand how to safely interact with law enforcement.
• Participate in a realistic, hands-on traffic stop scenario after the classroom portion.

Who can attend?
• New and young drivers, or those preparing to get their permit (ages 14+)
• Limited to 15 student participants
• Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend alongside their child.
