Austin Coming Together

We are a CONNECTOR, CONVENER, and FACILITATOR of collaborative efforts to support Austin residents.

Austin Coming Together (ACT)’s mission is to facilitate the collective impact of 50+ members and hundreds of partners to improve the quality of life in Chicago's Austin community. Since 2010, we’ve been connecting residents to services, attracting investments for the community, and building capacity for policy change. Recently, the pandemic made long-standing challenges even worse. But we mobilize

d resources to address growing needs, from food, laptop, or PPE distributions and vaccine access, to advocacy for racial equity. ACT has helped Austin become a United Way Neighborhood Network, where ACT leads a community hub initiative to develop a referral network of service providers that help maximize social supports for Austin residents.

Austin Coming Together (ACT)’s Austin Community Hub connects Austin residents to resources. At the 5th annual graduation party they hosted alongside the 600 N. Lorel Block Club, local youth were celebrating when Marshall Douthard Jr. shared his passion for architecture and construction.

Hub 101: Get Restaurant Ready with Impact Culinary Training

Join us to hear from Impact Culinary Training representatives about opportunities for students interested in the culinary field to gain training and preparation for entry-level work at a restaurant, and support in starting their career. Their programming consists of 8 weeks of culinary training and a 4 week paid internship with a Chicagoland restaurant.

Since the earliest design of the Aspire Center, the team set out to make the building feel welcoming for the community. The decorative lights in the lobby light up the all-glass addition, making the building a “beacon.” This inspiration comes from the vision of people coming together and achieving more than we thought possible. Follow along for more on the Aspire Center, as construction continues this fall!
