Austin Coming Together We are a CONNECTOR, CONVENER, and FACILITATOR of collaborative efforts to support Austin residents.

Austin Coming Together (ACT)’s mission is to facilitate the collective impact of 50+ members and hundreds of partners to improve the quality of life in Chicago's Austin community. Since 2010, we’ve been connecting residents to services, attracting investments for the community, and building capacity for policy change. Recently, the pandemic made long-standing challenges even worse. But we mobilized resources to address growing needs, from food, laptop, or PPE distributions and vaccine access, to advocacy for racial equity. ACT has helped Austin become a United Way Neighborhood Network, where ACT leads a community hub initiative to develop a referral network of service providers that help maximize social supports for Austin residents.

Big news! 🎉 The Aspire Center for Workforce Innovation has been named a 2026 recipient of the Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award!

This recognition celebrates the vision and work behind The Aspire Center and the transformation of this historic place into a space focused on opportunity, innovation, and the future of our workforce.

We’re grateful to Landmark Illinois for recognizing The Aspire Center alongside this year’s inspiring group of award winners who are preserving Illinois’ historic places while giving them new purpose for the communities they serve.

We look forward to celebrating with our fellow 2026 award recipients at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Awards on November 6th.

🇬🇭 Ghana-Again 2026 is coming to Chicago! Hosted by Gone Again Travel and Tours, the event will be this Saturday, September 12 from 10am - 6pm at Austin Town Hall Park (5610 W. Lake Street).

The Ghana-Again Austin Music Fest 2026 will celebrate Ghanaian heritage and Ghanaian culture through an incredible lineup of featured performers, youth dancers, food, and community connection. Featured performers include Victoria Boatman, Windy Indy, Monique the Singer, Iddrisu Alhassan, RICO Michael Jackson, Marie Alexander, Fernando Jones Band, and Austin Town Hall Youth Dancers!

TODAY! Check out the opening reception for Austin's very own Kenn Cook Jr.'s West Side Outdoor Photo Exhibition. Taking place at Nichols Tower from 5-7pm, this exhibition will show work from his series "From the West Side, With Love" and "This Far By Faith".

The exhibition is running through Saturday, September 26th and can be explored across the West Side.
