FSC is a private, nonprofit agency providing confidential services to Chippewa and Eau Claire County residents at no charge.

Family Support Center empowers all individuals, families, and communities to live free from domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and interpersonal violence through education, prevention, and intervention. In addition to the central office in Chippewa Falls, FSC has two satellite programs in Eau Claire: CASA on the UWEC campus, and the Eau Claire Sexual Assault Outreach office on South Barstow Street. FSC serves people in high-need, high-risk situations as well as other individuals seeking information and relevant assistance. FSC helps people connect with a network of resources to gain independence in coping with and overcoming crisis.

Today we are thanking the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, Chippewa Falls Police Department, Lake Hallie Police Department, and the Cadott Police Department for collaborating with Family Support Center to ensure those most at risk of being killed by their partner are connected with our agency and similar resources. These partnerships are crucial in efforts to prevent domestic violence homicides in Chippewa County.

Last Wednesday, Geri, former Executive Director, was honored at our state's capital for her career in domestic violence advocacy. In her 28-year tenure leading Family Support Center (FSC), thousands of survivors have walked through FSC's doors in their hardest moments and have left feeling more connected, comfortable, and safe.

No matter Geri's role, she continues to inspire survivors, staff members, and the Chippewa Valley to ask, "how else we can lend a hand to support another?"

Congratulations, Geri! We are so proud of you.

On Tuesday, we asked: What percentage of children under the age of 18 are exposed to at least one form of family violence in their lifetime?

The answer: Over a quarter of children (26%) under 18 years old have been exposed to violence at home.
