The Rescue, Squad, Command Vehicle and Fire Police just cleared assisting the Citizens' Hose Company No. 1 Inc. of Smyrna, DE American Legion Ambulance Service Station 64 Inc., Leipsic Vol. Fire Company Ambulance and Kent County Department of Public Safety on the MVC with entrapment on Glenwood Ave in front of Smyrna Mart. The crew from Rescue 45 assisted the crew from Engine 44-4 with extrication. One subject was transported to a local Trauma Center for treatment.

The Clayton Fire Company would like to congratulate Jake Lucas on his promotion to Captain at Monday night’s company meeting. Chief Moorhead made the announcement to the membership and praised Jake’s continued hard work and dedication to the department in the citizens within our Fire District. Congratulations Jake keep up the good work!!

Tonight the men and women of the Clayton Fire Company hosted forcible entry training with instructors from the Delaware State Fire School. Your Clayton volunteers took this unique opportunity to hone skills, gain knowledge and experience to better serve the community in which they protect.

Today, we celebrate not one, but two major milestones. Graduating from high school is a tremendous accomplishment, and completing the Delaware State Fire School Fire Academy is an equally impressive achievement that reflects dedication, hard work, and a commitment to serving others.

Congratulations to Kolbey Davis Jameson King and Matthew Torres on your high school graduation and Roland Lomax on graduating from the Delaware State Fire School Fire Academy!

The Clayton Fire Company is soliciting quotes for two remodeling projects to be completed at the fire station. Any interested parties may contact Skip Carrow at [email protected] for a copy of the scope of work to be completed and to view the construction area. The deadline to submit bids is June 30, 2026.

This past weekend Squad 45 assisted the Delaware State Fire School on their evolution days for the Spring Firefighter I and II Academy. For the evolution days, students are put into groups and operate with as a crew with their fellow classmates on apparatus with a DSFS Instructor as their officer. Throughout the day, crews are “dispatched” to several handle different scenarios ranging from structural fires to vehicle accidents. This is the culmination of four months of classroom and hands instruction. The students also receive National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications Certification in the following areas:

Firefighter I and II
Hazards Materials Awareness and Operations
Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Operations, and Technican

During Saturday’s evolutions, one of own Roland Lomax successfully completed his academy. The officers and members would like to congratulate “Alfred” as he has been nicknamed on his accomplishments and we wish him a safe career as a firefighter with the Clayton Fire Company.

Today, members of Clayton Fire Company had the honor of participating in the DVFA Parade celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary.

We are wrapping up the evening with three apparatus fully staffed.

Command 45 w/ AC Sacco, E-45 w/6 and Sqd 45 w/4 are currently assisting the Citizens' Hose Company No. 1 Inc. of Smyrna, DE with a tractor trailer on fire on the off ramp from Rt1 sb at Exit 119. Citizens Hose Co. Units to from a tractor trailer carrying waste construction material with smoke showing from the trailer area. The Townsend Fire Company is also assisting. The off ramp at Exit 119a will be closed for an extended period of time. The roadway remained closed for an extended period by Station 44 and 45 fire police, along with DelDot.
While the incident on Rt1 was going on Command 45 and Sqd 45 responded to AFA at Peach Cir and a Cardiac Arrest in Heritage Trace.
