Here at BCCOA we believe that every trip matters—and this past week, that belief was demonstrated.

We would like to recognize one of our exceptional transportation drivers, Voaina Miller (Vicksburg)whose quick thinking, professionalism, and compassion during a medical emergency made a life-changing difference. Because of his immediate decision to seek help, a medical professional shared that his actions HELPED SAVE A PASSENGER’S LIFE!

Congratulations Director Bailey a well deserving elevation! We will continue to move Mississippi!

Hats off to Roderick Bailey, who has just been named MDOT's new Director of Public Transit! 👏

With more than 17 years of experience at MDOT, Roderick was promoted after previously serving as the deputy director of the Public Transit Division. The move comes after Shirley Wilson retired as Public Transit Director in June.

“Roderick’s years of experience in public transit are a valuable asset to this agency,” said Brad White, MDOT Executive Director. “His leadership will continue our commitment to provide safe, reliable public transportation for all Mississippi communities with an emphasis on the needs of the riders.”

BCCOA had a great day accepting applications, we had 30+ applicants to stop by, interviews were conducted on site more to come on Monday. In addition a potential partnership is underway for all public transit providers. Thank you to our team members who participated in transit day both in the Delta and Central regions of Mississippi! Information was shared with our senior community on oral healthcare and ways to improve their quality of life! Mississippi Rural Health Transformation Program Initiative provides an excellent opportunity for regional partnerships that strengthen rural healthcare by increasing access to healthcare and transit services.

The count down has begun, only 2 days left until Rural Transit Day! Public/community transit providers across the USA along with other partners will be celebrating.

BCCOA has partnered with 2 host agencies, Sunflower Humphreys CPI, Inc. here in the MS Delta (Delta Rides) and Jackson Medical Mall Foundation (TransCon) in Central MS to participate. We will be sharing information about services available to the general public, information for our senior community; additional BCCOA will be accepting applications for employment (BCCOA needs drivers in all the areas we serve!). See the flyers below and join us as we celebrate rural transit across our state.
