As we approach Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of boating season, the Clinton Police Department reminds everyone to enjoy our beautiful shoreline, harbor, rivers, and waterways responsibly.

Please remember:

Slow down in posted no wake zones
Watch for swimmers, kayakers, paddleboarders, and other vessels
Do not operate a boat under the influence
Make sure everyone has access to a properly fitted life jacket
Be courteous at ramps, docks, marinas, and mooring areas
Know the local rules before you head out

Our goal is simple: safe boaters, safe waterways, and a great summer season for everyone.

Letโ€™s all do our part to keep Clintonโ€™s waters safe, respectful, and enjoyable this Memorial Day weekend and throughout the boating season.

Today is National Peace Officer Memorial Day. It is a day that we remember those who gave all in service to others. This Year 363 names were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC. In 2026, 41 officers have already made the ultimate sacrifice while performing their sworn duty. That's over 400 dedicated men and women in less than 18 months. Strange how we see very little press coverage or political outrage over the loss of these fine men and women. In spite of all this, the Thin Blue Line remains with dedicated, caring individuals who serve selflessly, protecting our communities from the crime and the dangers that some are trying to convince you don't exist. Godspeed Brothers and Sisters. We have the watch from here.
