I’m honored to be named an Affordability Champion by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association for my voting record during this year’s legislative session.

I know how important it is to keep state costs under control and make Connecticut a place where businesses can grow, and families can thrive.

That means standing up for policies that encourage economic growth and pushing back when Hartford makes it harder to do business.

The work to bring common sense to Hartford will continue because we need to make Connecticut more affordable for everyone, including you, your family and our business community.

👉Some great news for Clinton! 👈

I wanted to share an important update on the Abraham Pierson School project. My office has received word that $2 million in state bonding for the project has been included on the September 8th agenda of the State Bond Commission.

I was proud to advocate and fight for this funding in Hartford, and I’m grateful to the State Bond Commission for giving this project its consideration.

There’s still one more important step - the full commission will need to approve the funding - but getting this on the agenda is a big deal and a great step forward for Clinton.

The Pierson School project has the potential to do a lot of good for our community.

It will create new, affordable housing opportunities for the hardworking people of our community, as well as seniors, while also providing a dedicated space that Clinton can use for senior activities and programs. At the same time, an important part of the school’s history will be preserved, and the property will become a tax-paying asset for Clinton.

I’ll be following this closely on September 8th and will keep everyone updated!

It was great to be at Daisy Ingraham Elementary School this morning to welcome everyone back for a new school year!

There’s always a special energy on the first day of school, and it was wonderful to see the excitement on the faces of our students, as well as the teachers and staff who work so hard to make our District's schools such great places to learn.

A big thank you to all our educators and school staff in the 35th District for everything you do for our kids. Wishing all of our students, teachers, staff and families a safe, successful and fun school year!

What a great weekend in the district!

Friday, State Rep. Devin Carney and I had the absolute privilege of joining the Vista Life Innovations, Inc. community to celebrate the Class of 2026. Congratulations to Jimmy, Nikita, Kaitlin, Jack, Dave and Maya!👏👏👏

Graduation is a tremendous accomplishment, and each of these graduates should be incredibly proud of the hard work, determination and perseverance that brought them to this important milestone. Their achievements are a source of pride for their families, the Vista community and all of us along the shoreline.

Saturday brought the Westbrook Muster, one of those great local traditions that brings our community together. It was great to be there, see so many familiar faces and celebrate the history and spirit of Westbrook.

And Sunday, I joined the community in Clinton for the ribbon cutting of VOX Church. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this location to Clinton, and welcome to the neighborhood!

Three days, three great events, and plenty of reminders of what makes our shoreline communities so special. I’m grateful to represent a district where people come together, support one another and continue to build strong communities.

I had the pleasure of visiting Julie’s Cup of Joe in Clinton this week and spending some time with owners Joe, Julie and Morgan Campbell.

Their new location at 6 Post Office Square has only been open for about three weeks, but they’re already bringing the same great coffee, food and community atmosphere as their Westbrook location. Their menu has something for everyone from lattes and cappuccinos to bagels, croissants and breakfast sandwiches. You can even walk right through to shop at Lily’s Boutique next door.

It’s great to see a local family-owned business expand and invest right here in our community. Congratulations to the Campbell family on their second location, and I encourage everyone to stop in, grab a cup of Joe, and check them out!

If you’re looking for something interesting to do with the family, the Museum of Connecticut History in Hartford has an exhibit worth checking out that's a part of Connecticut’s 250th anniversary celebration.

The Connecticut’s Revolution exhibit explores the people, ideas and experiences that shaped Connecticut during the American Revolution, and how our state helped shape the course of American history.

📜Highlights include the “Goddard Broadside,” one of only nine copies of the Declaration of Independence printed by Mary Katharine Goddard

✒️Connecticut’s resolution of June 14, 1776 sanctioning the state’s Continental Congressional delegates to vote for independence

⌚A pocket watch that crossed the Delaware River with its owner and George Washington

The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Family Saturdays once a month continuing through June 2027. Best of all, there's no charge for admission.

It’s a great opportunity to learn a little Connecticut history, bring the kids, and see some of the documents and artifacts that tell the story of our state during one of the most important periods in American history.

The Museum of Connecticut History is located inside the Connecticut State Library at 231 Capitol Avenue in Hartford.

👉A little savings can go a long way when it’s time to send the kids back to school or add to your wardrobe.

Connecticut’s Sales-Tax Free Week runs August 16–22, giving families a chance to purchase qualifying clothing and footwear under $300 without paying the state sales tax.

There are some helpful additions this year, including backpacks and cleated shoes.

If you still have back-to-school shopping to do, consider taking advantage of the week and shopping at our local stores. It’s good for families and good for our small businesses! 📝

When there is a potential threat to public health, it's important to err on the side of caution. No one wants to take unnecessary risks when it comes to the safety of our drinking water.

At the same time, the recent boil water notice for our area had a significant impact on many of our shoreline businesses during one of the busiest weekends of the summer. Restaurants, cafés, and other small businesses did exactly what was asked of them, and many experienced substantial financial losses as a result (some in the six figures).

Now that follow-up testing has determined this was an isolated incident found to have been limited to a tap in one location in Essex, it's appropriate to ask questions about how the situation was handled and whether additional guidance or a more targeted response could have reduced the impact while still protecting public health.

That's why I joined House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora and Rep. Devin Carney in requesting information from the Department of Public Health. We want a better understanding of the decision-making process and to explore whether there are options to assist the businesses that stepped up and complied with the public health advisory.

Protecting public health must always remain the priority, but we also have a responsibility to support the local businesses that make our area the vibrant community that it is.

Showing up to do the work on behalf of our communities truly matters to me, even if it means late nights and long hours.

This legislative session, I was proud to earn a 100% voting record, casting all 316 votes taken in the House of Representatives, according to statistics that were released this week.

My job is to be there, listen, and make your voice heard. I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve you, and I'll continue working every day to bring strong representation to Hartford on behalf of Clinton, Killingworth and Westbrook.
