Training 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲. Prepared 𝑻𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies joined area first responders for an active shooter response training exercise.

Training together helps strengthen communication, coordination, and teamwork so we can effectively respond to a crisis when every second counts.

Thanks to the Hamilton Township Fire Department, Hamiliton Local School District, Obetz Police, and the Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security for all taking part in the exercise.

𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 270

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s I-270 enforcement and visibility blitz between July 19 and July 25, along with Dublin Police, Hilliard Police, Gahanna Police, Columbus Police and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Here are the results provided by OSHP from all agencies who participated in this blitz:

• 961 speeding citations
• 19 citations for speeds over 100 miles per hour
• 84 seat belt citations
• 121 distracted driving citations
• 2 arrests for impaired driving

We want to thank all the deputies who participated in this operation, along with our Communications Center dispatchers who had an increase in calls, and our records technicians for an increased workload during this blitz.

𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐀 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄: Sheriff Dallas Baldwin states that the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal injury traffic crash that occurred at approximately 6:56 am on 7/28/2026. A Red 2025 Ford Mustang was westbound on US40 approaching Alton Darby Creek Rd.

A 2025 White Kenworth FedEx semi tractor trailer was eastbound on US40. The Kenworth made a turn onto northbound Alton Darby Creek Rd. in front of the Ford Mustang, causing the mustang to strike the Kenworth on the passenger side.

Deputies from Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and Medics from Prairie Township Fire responded to the scene.

The Ford came to rest facing westbound in the ditch on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The Kenworth stopped in the intersection blocking all east and westbound lanes.

The driver of the Kenworth was transported to Grant Hospital by Prairie Twp. Medic #243.

The driver of each vehicle were the only occupants.

The driver of the Ford was pronounced deceased by Prairie Twp Medic #243 on scene at 7:05 am.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash.
