Today, President Pro Tem Rob Dorans joined local workers and the Central Ohio Labor Council for Organizing Columbus, a Labor Day celebration and conversation about the experiences of workers who have organized their workplaces, the challenges they’ve faced and the impact collective action has had on the job.

Council continues its work on needed legislation on this topic to ensure any surveillance technology used by the city has the necessary guardrails and deterrents in place that both protect the public’s safety and its civil liberties.

Twenty-five years after 9/11, remembrance can also mean service.

Council and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum are partnering throughout September to give Columbus youth and families opportunities to learn about the significance of 9/11 and serve their communities.

From activities supporting Veterans and first responders to projects helping neighbors in need, Columbus is putting remembrance into action and carrying forward the spirit of service and unity that followed Sept. 11, 2001.

In recognition of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Columbus City Council and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum are connecting youth and families with opportunities to learn about the significance of 9/11 and put that learning into action through service.

Throughout the month, activities across Columbus will support Veterans, military families, first responders and neighbors in need.
