Nueces County Democrats are excited to welcome thousands of Democrats from across the Lone Star State to Corpus Christi in just three weeks for the Texas Democratic Party Convention, June 25–27!
This major statewide event will bring delegates, elected officials, activists, volunteers, and visitors from every region of Texas to our community. Beyond the excitement of the convention itself, the event is expected to generate a significant economic boost for Corpus Christi and Nueces County as attendees stay in local hotels, dine in our restaurants, shop at local businesses, and experience everything our Coastal Bend community has to offer.

Texas House District 34 is officially on the battlefield—and Democrats are ready to fight to win it back!
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) has identified 12 Republican-held Texas House seats as key targets for 2026, and Texas House District 34 is one of them. That means Democrats see HD 34 as a prime opportunity to flip a seat and strengthen Democratic representation in Austin.
For years, HD 34 was represented by former State Representative Abel Herrero. However, following his retirement, Republicans captured the seat during the 2024 election cycle that saw GOP gains across much of the country. Now, Democrats at the national, state, and local levels are focused on reclaiming this crucial South Texas district—and they're investing resources, energy, and attention right here in Nueces County.
Leading the effort is Stephanie Guerrero Saenz, a candidate determined to take the fight directly to the Republican incumbent and return HD 34 to Democratic hands.
The stakes couldn't be higher. Control of the Texas House will shape the future of our economy, water policy, public education, healthcare, voting rights, infrastructure, and the issues that affect working families every day. Democrats know that victories in districts like HD 34 will be critical to building a stronger, more competitive Texas.
