🚨PBIS Link Update🚨

A new PBIS Party sign-up link has been created and will remain open until Wednesday, September 2, at 12:00 p.m.

To ensure every student has an opportunity to receive a goodie bag, the PBIS Party schedule has been adjusted:

👉 September 2: Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 6th Grade

👉September 3: 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 7th Grade

👉September 4: 4th Grade, 5th Grade, and 8th Grade

September is filled with some really exciting events, activities, and volunteer opportunities. Be sure to mark your calendar and save these dates:

👉 September 1: PBIS Party Grades K, 1, 6 and Student of the Month Recognition. Congratulations to all of the students being recognized!

👉 September 2: PBIS Party Grades 2, 3, 7

👉 September 3: PBIS Party Grades 4, 5, 8 and Progress Reports

👉 September 4: Spirit Day + Last Day to Sign Up for our Public Service Recognition Breakfast on September 11th at 8:15 am in the cafeteria

👉 September 7: No School, Labor Day

👉 September 8-11: Uniform Sale Drop off. Start cleaning out your closets and prep to drop off uniforms this week. Drop off details to come, keep an eye out!

👉 September 11: K-2 School Dance from 6-8 pm in the School Gym

👉 September 11: Public Service Recognition Breakfast at 8:15am in the Cafeteria

Congratulations to our very own Ms. Curry-Miller!!

🌟 TEACHER OF THE YEAR SPOTLIGHT 🌟

Our 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year Spotlight Series continues with Ms. Chermika Curry-Miller, Newton County STEAM Academy’s Teacher of the Year! 🍎

Ms. Curry-Miller teaches eighth-grade Social Studies and has served at Newton County STEAM Academy since 2015. Her history with Newton County Schools goes back even further, as she previously worked in the district from 2006 to 2011 at Veterans Memorial and Clements middle schools.

For Ms. Curry-Miller, a love of learning started early. In fact, she remembers playing school with her cousins as a child! That enthusiasm for learning eventually led her to the classroom, where she now has the opportunity to share it with her own students.

And when asked what she loves most about teaching, Ms. Curry-Miller didn’t hesitate—the students! ❤️

💬 “They bring so much joy to my classroom with their love for each other and their enthusiasm for learning. They truly are a pleasure to teach!”

Above all, Ms. Curry-Miller wants her students to understand that they are capable of great things when they give their best effort. She reminds them that their efforts today can pave the way for future success—and that she is there to support them every step of the way.

Here’s a fun fact: Every year, Ms. Curry-Miller’s students try to guess her age, and they usually place her in her 20s or 30s. She gets a kick out of letting them know she’s actually in her 40s! 😄

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Curry-Miller enjoys reading, bicycling, swimming, relaxing, and especially spending time at the beach. Born in the Bahamas, she says she has always felt a special connection to the ocean and finds being near the water to be one of her favorite ways to unwind. 🌊

Congratulations, Ms. Curry-Miller! We are proud to celebrate you as Newton County STEAM Academy’s 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year!

✨Volunteers needed for our 3-5 School Dance tomorrow, 6-8pm!

We’re in need of parent/guardian volunteers from grades K-2 and 6-8 to help make this event a success so parents/guardians of 3-5 graders can optionally attend for fun with their student(s).

Important to know:

📌 Be prepared to help out for the entire duration of your volunteer opportunity.

📌 Please do not bring any children with you for volunteer opportunities at NCSA. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

📌 Your volunteer time begins when you scan in at the NCSA front office and concludes when you scan out at the NCSA front office.

Your volunteer assignments will be, but are not limited to:

👉 Bathroom monitors
👉 Monitors at back of gym
👉 Monitors at either end of the bleachers in the NCSA gymnasium
👉 Floaters
