Over the past few months, the Delaware in Conversation series has created space to look more closely at the stories that shape this place.

On Wednesday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m., the series concludes at the Delaware City Library with The Delaware Poison Candy Murders of 1898.

Presented by historian Margaret Opsata, the program explores a late-19th-century case and what it reveals about life in Delaware at that time.

This free event is open to the public, with snacks provided.

We have another local history program to celebrate Delaware 250 and City of Delaware City's Bicentennial- Through Max's Eyes: Fort Delaware and the Sketches of Max Neugas, hosted by Fort Dupont State Park's Interpretive Programs Manager. Max Neugas was a prisoner of war at Fort Delaware in 1864 and 1865. While there, he drew a number of sketches portraying life on the island. In this presentation, we will explore the sketches, talk about who Max was, and also find out how these sketches ended up back in Delaware.

This program takes place on Thursday, May 28th at 6:00 PM. Register here: https://delawarelibraries.libcal.com/event/16883139

On Thursday, May 28, we are going to be having a special program at the Delaware City Library. The program, "Through Max's Eyes," will be about former POW Max Neugas' sketches of Fort Delaware, and how many of them came to be in the possession of the Fort Delaware Society, and thus accessible to Fort Delaware State Park. The program will be held at 6 pm. Hope to see you there!
