Today was a great example of what Delaware County EMS is all aboutโ€”serving and protecting our community from the classroom to the sidelines. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš‘
During the day, our Citizens Academy Alumni and crew were at Olentangy Berlin High School teaching students and staff Hands-Only CPR and Stop the Bleed. Giving our community the knowledge and confidence to act during an emergency can make all the difference when seconds count.
Then, as the sun went down, our crews traded the classroom for the sidelines as we continued protecting our community during Week One of Friday Night Lights. ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿš‘
From preparing the next generation of lifesavers to being there when our community needs us most, Delaware County EMS is proud to serve our local schools and our community.
Teach. Serve. Protect.

Thatโ€™s Delaware County EMS.

August is National Emergency Management Month and we want to give a huge shout out to recognize the outstanding team at Delaware County Emergency Management. This small but powerful team are an essential part of keeping our community safe, through planning, mitigation efforts and aligning resources before, during and after incidents happen.
We thank them for all they do for DCEMS, other public safety entities, the entire county and beyond and we hope youโ€™ll join us in wishing them a happy National Emergency Management Month!

August is National Emergency Management Awareness Month, a time to recognize the professionals who work year-round to help people, businesses, and institutions prepare for and recover from disasters. Disasters are inevitable, but catastrophes are not. Emergency management brings partners together to solve complex problems, reduce harm, and restore stability during emergencies. Emergency management isnโ€™t just about reacting; itโ€™s also about planning in advance, coordinating under pressure, and developing lasting resilience.

This process only happens when you have a group of dedicated individuals with a passion for serving their community who show up every day to contemplate the worst-case scenario and develop the best possible solutions. Here is YOUR Delaware County Emergency Management team, Delaware County:
๐ŸŸฆ Director Alex McCarthy
๐ŸŸฆ Dep. Director Scott Stewart
๐ŸŸฆ Planning Coordinator Jecy Weber
๐ŸŸฆ EM Specialist Yvonne Strassmann

We want to wish a very happy 28th wedding anniversary to Delco EMS Citizens Academy Alumni members Rick and Diane. They have been reliably serving and volunteering for our community at countless events and even spent their wedding anniversary at Ohio's Biggest and Best Touch a Truck! Teaching bleeding control and Hands-only CPR. We appreciate their dedication to our community and most of all to each other and we felt like they deserved a post of their own.

We're happy to say that Ohio's Biggest and Best Touch a Truck! was a success this past Saturday. With over 100 vehicles ๐Ÿš— on display, and an estimated 7,000 in attendance, we're ecstatic that we could host this event for our community.
This was not a task completed alone. First and foremost we want to thank our partners at Berlin Township Fire Department - Delaware County, Ohio ๐Ÿš’for their extensive support, Olentangy Schools ๐Ÿซfor providing an incredible space at Berlin High School, and to Sunny 95 - Columbus, OH ๐Ÿ“ป for being our radio sponsor, spreading the word and for all those tasty popsicles from their treat truck!
And then comes the countless agencies, businesses and organizations who participated this year, making it the biggest event ever! A sincere thanks ๐Ÿ™ to everyone listed in the comments.
Finally to our community - We do this for you but we couldn't do it without you. Thank you for attending, thank you for your donations to People In Need, Inc. thank you for stopping to learn Hands-Only CPR from our renowned Delco EMS Citizens Academy Alumni and we hope you had an amazing time.
And yes, we plan to do this around the same time next year. ๐Ÿ“… Be sure to check our page often for all our news and for when we announce the dates for next year.
