Colorado had 3 of the 38 ambassadors selected—from a competitive pool of 92 applicants nationwide. An incredible accomplishment!

This national cohort brings together some of the nation’s leading Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) equipping them to speak up, speak out, and share their stories about the vital role they play in supporting people with IDD and strengthening communities.

We are thrilled to announce that Employment Specialist Amanda McConnell has been named the 2026 Colorado Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Year by ANCOR. Selected from a record 544 nominations nationwide, Amanda represents the very best of person-centered service.

By helping individuals uncover their interests and build the skills needed for meaningful employment, Amanda drives true community inclusion. As she puts it, "Doing this work means being part of someone's journey... helping them build confidence, or celebrating small wins."

Our Executive Director, Rob DeHerrera, noted that Amanda’s dedication shows the "transformative power" of the work done every day at DDRC. She will be officially honored at a national ceremony in Boston on April 23.
