💜 International Overdose Awareness Day💜

Each year on August 31st, we remember the lives lost to overdose, stand with those who are struggling, and recognize the families, friends, and communities affected by substance use.

Overdose is preventable, and every life is worth saving. Knowing the signs of an overdose, carrying naloxone (Narcan), and knowing how to use it can make the difference between life and death.

Today—and every day—let’s replace stigma with compassion, judgment with understanding, and silence with support.

💜 Carry naloxone. Learn the signs. Save a life.
💜 Recovery is possible. Help is available.
💜 No one should be defined by their worst moment.

Lake Region District Health Unit is here to help. We provide FREE Narcan and training so you can be prepared to recognize and respond to an overdose. Reach out to us to get Narcan and learn how to use it—because being prepared could save a life. 💜

🚨 CAR SEAT RECALL CHECK — HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR SEAT LATELY? 🚨

As Child Passenger Safety Technicians, one of the most important things we can remind families about is checking your car seat for recalls! ❤️

Car seats are an important part of protecting our little ones, but just like any other safety product, recalls can happen. A recall could involve a part, labeling, instructions, or something that may affect the safety of the seat. That’s why it’s so important to stay informed and make sure your child’s seat is safe to use.

✅ Check your car seat’s brand, model number, and date of manufacture
✅ Check for any current recalls or safety notices
✅ Register your car seat with the manufacturer so you can be notified of future recalls
✅ Not sure what you’re looking at? That’s okay!

📞 Give one of our Child Passenger Safety Technicians a call or come see us. We’re happy to help you check your seat and answer your questions!

You can also check the official recall database here:
https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls

A few minutes of checking could make a very important difference. When it comes to our kids, we want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to keep them as safe as possible. 💙

If you’re unsure, don’t guess — ask a certified car seat technician! Lake Region District Health Unit is here to help you stay safe!

Use our VIN lookup tool to check for recalls on your car, or search by make and model. Our databases also list car seats, tires, and equipment recalled for unreasonable safety risk or failing to meet minimum safety standards.

Helping a child grow doesn't mean making life easier. It means helping them discover they can handle hard things. Whether your child is dealing with everyday worries or anxiety that is starting to interfere with daily life, support matters. The goal isn't to remove every uncomfortable feeling or challenge, but to help young people build the confidence and coping skills to navigate them. And when they know they have a supportive adult in their corner, they don't have to face those challenges alone.
