Summer Scholars students participated in lots of hands-on learning opportunities this week. First grade students have explored the properties of sound and created flutes from straws to demonstrate how variations in length affect pitch. Meanwhile, second grade students have been studying forms of matter, utilizing solid shapes to construct model houses. Third and fourth graders have been engaged in literacy activities, reading about the 2012 Indian blackout. Subsequently, they conducted research to create their own city models, vulnerable to power outages, and devised strategies for emergency situations. They shared their presentations with their class today. Finally, some multiplication fact practice with sidewalk chalk!
