🐾 A Purr-fect Rescue Story from Dunedin Fire Rescue 🐾
This afternoon, District Chief Fast and Firefighter Parrish were out in the District Chief vehicle when they spotted something unexpected right in the middle of the road—a tiny kitten.
Realizing the immediate danger, they quickly activated their emergency lights and stopped traffic to keep the kitten safe. After a short (and slightly comical) chase, Firefighter Parrish was able to safely scoop up the little one. Mission accomplished… or so they thought.
As they got back into the vehicle to transport the kitten to a veterinary office, this tiny feline pulled off a serious Houdini move—vanishing straight into the dashboard of the truck. Yes… inside the dash.
With help from our fleet mechanics, the dashboard was carefully taken apart to reach the elusive passenger. But the kitten had wedged itself into a very tight spot and wasn’t coming out easily.
That’s when things took an even better turn. The team had all the tools they needed… except one: a small enough set of hands.
Luckily, a nurse was at the station conducting annual physicals—and she had exactly what was needed. With patience (and those small hands), she was able to safely rescue the kitten.
And the best part? That same nurse decided to give this little survivor a forever home. 🐱❤️
A big thank you to everyone involved—from our firefighters to our fleet team and our unexpected hero of the day—for going above and beyond to help one very determined kitten.
Sometimes, it’s not just about answering calls… it’s about making a difference, no matter how small. 🚒
