We are always looking for good people to join our department.

If you see our crews out today, we are assessing damage from last night's storm and working to identify any safety concerns or areas in need of attention.

If you notice any issues that may have been missed during our assessment, please don't hesitate to contact us. We encourage residents to report downed trees, damaged property, or downed power lines so they can be addressed promptly.

Due to last night's storm, there are reports of downed power lines in the area. Please use extreme caution around any fallen or damaged electrical lines. Always assume a downed power line is energized and dangerous. Keep a safe distance and report the hazard to the appropriate authorities immediately.

Traffic Alert – U.S. 20 Bypass Eastbound

The eastbound lanes of the U.S. 20 Bypass are currently reduced to one lane between County Road 3 and State Road 19 due to a motor vehicle accident.

Emergency personnel are on scene, and motorists should expect delays while crews work to safely manage the incident and clear the roadway.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down, remain alert, and consider alternate routes if possible. Please use caution when traveling through the area and move over for emergency vehicles and responders working along the roadway.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Baugo Fire Assists at Fully Involved House Fire in Cleveland Township

This morning around 1:00 AM, Baugo Township Fire Department was dispatched to assist with a fully involved residential structure fire in Cleveland Township.

Upon arrival, Ladder 191 was positioned to utilize its elevated master stream, allowing crews to direct large volumes of water onto the second floor and attic areas of the structure. While Ladder 191 operated from above, additional crews worked from the ground using handlines and ground ladders to attack the fire and prevent further extension.

As conditions improved, Ladder 191 deployed firefighters onto a stable section of the garage roof to access and extinguish hidden pockets of fire. Due to the extensive fire damage and the large amount of water applied during suppression efforts, portions of the structure became unsafe to operate on directly. Crews then continued overhaul operations from the tip of the aerial ladder, removing siding and opening roof peaks to locate and extinguish remaining hot spots.

Baugo crews remained on scene for approximately five hours and were released around 6:00 AM after a long night of hard work alongside our mutual aid partners.
We would like to thank all responding departments for their teamwork and professionalism. Incidents of this size are a reminder that successful outcomes are made possible through training, cooperation, and dedication.

After a long night of firefighting operations, our firefighters returned home tired, wet, and covered in soot/sawdust—but proud to have done their part in protecting our communities. 🚒🔥

Baugo Fire proudly participated in the Elkhart and Osceola Memorial Day parades. In keeping with recent tradition, Ladder 191 carried the flag of the 713th Combat Engineer SAPPER Company (Valparaiso, IN). Which 2 members of our dept currently still serve with.

We honor the memory of the “Sapper 6” — six brave soldiers who gave their lives in 2012 during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan:

Baugo B-Shift Responds to House Fire in Penn Township.

Shortly before 6 PM, BTFD was dispatched to Penn Township for a reported structure fire. Baugo Fire was requested to assist with a tanker and additional manpower.

Engine 141 arrived on the scene, and crews assisted with placing ground ladders and deploying hose lines into service. Thanks to Penn Township’s quick response, crews were able to contain the fire and prevent further extension.
B-Shift was relieved shortly after operations concluded and returned to service.
