WLS plays an important role in improving the capacity of member libraries. ry sites, serving 1,437,136 computer users and free wifi access at all sites. WLS provides cataloging services to maintain consistency and quality control over the information in the WLS catalog, and operates an expansive inter-library loan program among local, regional and international sources to find items not found in WLS libraries. Effectively and efficiently, WLS coordinates the sharing of library resources among the member libraries, distributing over 1 million items annually, saving libraries millions of dollars. Other shared resources include collection development systems, system-wide purchasing of technologies, and electronic holdings, including e-books and e-readers, learning and research databases and a unique Spanish language catalog using Spanish vocabularyβ for individuals searching materials not yet fluent in English.
