Mark you calendars and join us at one of four community meetings to share your experiences, concerns, and ideas about housing in Erie County. Your input will help shape future housing priorities and strategies for our communities.

Presque Isle Beach Water Quality Update

Good news for beachgoers! ✅ Swimming restrictions have been lifted at Beach 3 on Presque Isle, and the beach is now open for swimming.

⚠️ A Swim Advisory has been posted for Beach 11. Swimming is still permitted, but to help reduce the risk of illness, please remember to:

• Avoid swallowing lake water (parents should closely monitor children).
• Wash your hands before eating or handling food.
• Avoid swimming if you have a weakened immune system, an open cut or wound, are pregnant, or are currently feeling ill.
• Minimize water contact after heavy rainfall, when lake levels are high, or during strong west winds, as these conditions can increase E. coli levels.

Today, the ECGRA - Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority announced $214,121 in Special Events Grant funding to support 50 organizations and more than 150 events across Erie County.

These grants help strengthen communities, attract visitors, and enhance our quality of life by supporting events that create connections, celebrate local traditions, and bring economic activity to our region.

🌻 SUNFLOWER WATCH 🌻

We stopped by the sunflower fields in Girard today to check on their progress, and while the fields are still mostly a sea of green, the first bright yellow blooms are beginning to appear. It won't be long before these fields transform into one of Erie County's most spectacular summer sights.

If you're planning a visit, stay tuned. We'll continue sharing updates as we get closer to peak bloom and the start of the Girard Sunflower Festival, August 9 through August 15.

West Nile Virus Detected in Erie County Mosquito Samples.

The Erie County Department of Health - Pennsylvania has confirmed that mosquito samples collected from surveillance trap sites in Erie, Millcreek, and Harborcreek have tested positive for West Nile virus.

It's important to remember that this does not mean everyone is at risk, but it is a good reminder to take simple precautions to avoid mosquito bites:

- Use EPA approved insect repellent
- Wear long sleeves and pants when outdoors at dawn and dusk
- Eliminate standing water around your home where mosquitoes can breed
- Make sure window and door screens are in good repair

The 15th annual Jarrid L. King Memorial Motorcycle Ride in Wesleyville brought the community together to honor Jarrid’s memory and those who have served our country. Thank you to everyone who rode, participated, and helped make the day special. 🇺🇸🏍️

What a great day celebrating McKean Community Day!

The annual celebration brought the community together with a parade featuring local officials, high school cheerleaders, fire engines, and plenty of candy for the kids. Visitors also enjoyed dozens of vendors, great food, family activities, and even an arm wrestling competition.

Your Erie County wide engagement officer John Stehlin had the opportunity to serve as a judge for the annual pie contest. 🥧

McKean Community Day is a great reminder of what makes Erie County special: strong communities, local traditions, and neighbors coming together for a day of fun.
