⚠️ SCAM ALERT FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES ⚠️
The Erie County Sheriff's Office wants to make Veterans, military families, and caregivers aware of a new scam currently circulating across the country.
Fraudulent postcards are being mailed to Veterans and their spouses promoting a so-called "Veterans Savings Program." These postcards falsely claim recipients may qualify for additional benefits, including:
• An extra $185 monthly payment
• Dental benefits
• Other supplemental benefits
🚨 IMPORTANT: The "Veterans Savings Program" is NOT a legitimate VA program.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has received reports from multiple states of Veterans receiving these misleading mailers. The postcards are designed to appear official and may attempt to collect personal information or convince recipients to pay for services.
If you receive one of these postcards:
✅ Do not provide personal or financial information.
✅ Do not send money or pay any fees.
✅ Verify benefit information directly through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
✅ Report suspected fraud to the VA or local law enforcement.
Please help us protect our Veteran community by sharing this information with friends, family members, and fellow Veterans.
Thank you to all who serve and have served. Together, we can help stop scams targeting our Veterans.
