Essex RTC

Essex RTC The best government is that which governs least.

Whether we are in the majority or minority, we've long made our peace living alongside people with whom we disagree. We may not always respect their opinions—hell, we may cheerfully object to the policies they implement during their turns in power—but we still eat alongside our opponents, do business with them, and say "hello" in the street. We make peace with people who harbor very different political affiliations because we have no reasonable alternative.

Region 4’s current policy allows students to keep their phones with them, but the honor system isn’t working. At JWMS, phones are supposed to remain in lockers, yet most stay in students’ pockets. At VRHS, students “check in” their phones at the start of each class, which puts teachers in the position of enforcing the rules and leaves students preoccupied, waiting for the next text or social media notification.

If you were offered a completely phone-free day, would you take it? I know I would.

In light of this, I’m asking you to consider joining a group of parents encouraging the Region 4 board to adopt a K–12, bell-to-bell, device-free school day policy. Your support could make a real difference.

"Democracy doesn’t just die in darkness; it also dies in silence. It dies when fear keeps us from speaking honestly, when we retreat into echo chambers, when we reduce people to labels instead of listening to their ideas." Guy Spier

How about more of us just develop a little more courage to stand our ground and speak our dangerous truth?

THIS IS SERIOUS 🚨

After July 4th rivers and lakes are about to start being sprayed with an extremely toxic chemical called Diquat in Connecticut with plans to go nationwide

This has been sprayed before it kills EVERYTHING

Politicians are getting rich off this deal along with many more people in government

“Connecticut is about to poison its own lakes and rivers with a highly toxic chemical called diquat. And it seems like no one knows about it. It's actually a coordinated plan that they're about to roll out in states all over the country.

This particular chemical is banned in Europe and highly toxic to humans and wildlife alike. I've even heard landscapers refer to diquat as the nuclear option.

The way these people are getting away with it is by saying it's used to kill an invasive plant species called hydrilla, which I'm sure it does, along with everything else in the water, and then us by circumstance.

When I looked up if they were doing it in my state of Connecticut, I was shocked to see that right after the 4th of July, they plan on spraying it in several lakes out here. Of course, when you start to follow the money, you see how this plan has huge state funding and therefore is lining a whole lot of pockets. There's quite a few players involved and they really don't want us to know who they are and what their involvement is. So me being me, I listed all of their contact information in the caption below with exactly what their involvement to the issue is. (I’ll add the list below)”

“This is not a partisan issue. It's downright evil.”

- 12 sites across the Lower Connecticut River to be sprayed first
- Chemical: Diquat Dibromide (banned in Europe and Highly Toxic to Wildlife and Humans)
- Scheduled after July 4th, 2025
- Approved by CT DEEP & U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Sites Include:
-Chester Creek
-Hamburg Cove
-Selden Creek
-Salmon River
-Deep River
-Lake Pocotopaug

Friends, I want to make you aware of a deeply concerning bill being pushed in Hartford—House Bill 5002. If passed, this legislation would strip away local control over housing decisions and force one-size-fits-all mandates on our small towns—without your voice, input, or consent.

This bill could be voted on as early as Tuesday. It was drafted behind closed doors, without public hearings or meaningful local engagement. As your State Representative, I am standing firmly against HB 5002 because it would:

❌ Take away local authority over parking requirements
❌ Force high-density housing near transit, even without proper infrastructure
❌ Mandate multifamily “middle housing” in commercial zones without local approval
❌ Impose unrealistic affordable housing quotas set by Hartford—not our towns
❌ Burden small towns with more bureaucracy, like required Fair Rent Commissions
❌ Make it harder for you to voice concerns about zoning changes
❌ Launch risky cash payment programs with little accountability

📢 Our communities are unique and should not be governed by blanket mandates from Hartford. This bill ignores the very real challenges we face and could cause lasting damage to the character and planning of our towns.
