πŸ₯ Community partnerships play a vital role in helping students explore future careers and connect classroom learning to the real world.

We’re grateful for our continued partnership with Foundation Health Partners, which provides a variety of hands-on learning opportunities for our juniors and seniors throughout the year, including this recent Cath Lab workshop.

Students had the opportunity to learn directly from healthcare professionals about catheters, veins and arteries, and the life-saving interventions doctors and nurses use when treating heart conditions. They heard stories of patient care, gained insight into the passion and purpose behind careers in healthcare, and got hands-on experience with real medical equipment and pig organs to better understand anatomy and cardiovascular procedures.

Thank you to Foundation Health Partners for investing in our students and sharing your expertise, and thank you to the students who participated with a willingness to learn.

πŸš€ Experiences like these help students discover new possibilities, explore potential career paths, and strengthen the connection between our schools and community!

😁 Great news for our students and families!

Our district has been awarded $850,000 through the Alaska 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant for FY27.

This funding will continue to support afterschool programs at Anne Wien, Denali, Hunter, while also bringing back an afterschool program at North Pole Elementary School. The grant will also fund the Elementary Academy of Science and Technology (EAST) Summer Learning Program.

Combined with our existing FY26 21st CCLC grant, the district will receive a total of $1.56 million annually to provide afterschool learning opportunities at seven elementary schools.

These programs offer academic support, enrichment activities, and engaging learning experiences that help students succeed beyond the school day. We are grateful for this investment in our students, families, and community!

Grant awards are expected to be officially announced on June 26, 2026, pending final approval and federal appropriation of funds. 21st Century After School Programs - Fairbanks School District

πŸ‘ Congratulations to the 45 students who participated in this year’s Introduction to Trades Summer Program!

During this intensive week-long experience, students explored a variety of skilled trades through hands-on training, industry exposure, and real-world learning opportunities.

Programs included:
πŸ”¨ Construction Crafts Laborers Training
⚑ Electrical Academy
🚜 Heavy Equipment Maintenance
🚧 Heavy Equipment Operators
πŸͺš Introduction to Carpentry
πŸ”₯ Welding Academy

The Introduction to Trades program serves as a direct pathway into our School to Apprenticeship (STA) program, helping high school seniors connect with local union partners and opportunities to enter Federally Registered Apprenticeship programs.

Union interviews are currently underway, and many of these students are taking the next step toward high-demand, high-skill careers in Alaska’s workforce.

Thank you to our instructors, industry partners, and union representatives who helped make this experience possible!
