🛡️ Working together to keep our schools safe.

The Fairbanks District Attorney’s Office, Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Alaska State Troopers, and Division of Juvenile Justice have developed a new Threat Assessment and Management Protocol, creating a coordinated community framework for identifying, assessing, and responding to potential threats of violence involving students.

“By identifying and responding to threats before they become something bigger, while allowing for thoughtful redress at various escalating levels of intervention as needed on a case-by-case basis, we are putting our best foot forward to protect our children, who are all at once the most vulnerable members of a community and its most valuable resource for the future,” said Fairbanks District Attorney Joe Dallaire.

This collaborative approach brings agencies together to support early intervention and strengthen the safety of our students, staff, and schools.

🌟 High expectations send an important message to students: We believe you can do this.

Achieving Educational Excellence means setting a high bar for every student - and providing the support they need to reach it.

As one FNSBSD educator put it: “We have to keep our bar really high, but then scaffold to get there.”

Whether a student is learning their first letters, working toward grade-level goals, or tackling their next challenge, our role is to help them keep growing and recognize what they’re capable of achieving.

That commitment is at the heart of Pillar 1: Achieving Educational Excellence and our work to help every student learn, grow, and succeed.

📈 Growth is worth celebrating.

Educational excellence isn’t only about where a student is today. It’s also about recognizing how far they’ve come - and helping students recognize that growth for themselves.

Across FNSBSD, educators are helping students understand where they started, see the progress they’re making, set goals, and take ownership of where they’re going next.

As one of our educators shared, students are more invested in their education when they can see the impact their hard work is having.

That focus on growth is also guiding our Year 2 Strategic Plan work as we strengthen instruction, use student growth data to provide targeted support, and work toward improved outcomes for students.
