A CHILD'S SCHOOL DAY SHOULD BE FILLED WITH LEARNING, LAUGHTER, AND FRIENDSHIPS — NOT WORRIES ABOUT LUNCH.

For many of us, lunchtime is just another part of the school day. But for some families, keeping up with the cost of school meals is one more challenge in an already stretched household budget.

And right here in our own Mt. Vernon community, the need is greater than many people realize.

$71,800.

That's how much Mt. Vernon Schools have absorbed in unpaid student meal balances over the past three years.

$71,800 that could have supported classrooms, educational resources, and opportunities for our students.

But behind that number is something much more important than dollars and cents. There are children, families, and neighbors who deserve to know that their community cares.

No child should have to carry the weight of financial hardship into the school cafeteria. By coming together, we can help families, support our schools, and make sure every student knows their community is behind them.

🦃 THAT'S WHY WE'RE TURNING MILES INTO MEALS!

Join us as we team up with MVCSC Food Services for the 2nd Annual Mt. Vernon Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk, where every step is an opportunity to make a difference for a child right here at home.

📅 Saturday, November 21, 2026

All proceeds benefit the Mt. Vernon Education Foundation Angel Fund, helping address unpaid student meal balances.

🧡 THREE WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

🤝 BUSINESSES — WILL YOU STEP UP FOR OUR STUDENTS?

Sponsorship opportunities start at just $500. Your business can do more than put its name on an event shirt. You can help address a real need facing families and schools right here in our community.

🙌 VOLUNTEERS — WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Your time and energy can help turn this event into a community tradition that makes a meaningful difference year after year.

🌐 REGISTRATION, SPONSORSHIPS & VOLUNTEER SIGN-UPS ARE NOW OPEN!

HERE'S OUR CHALLENGE TO THE MT. VERNON COMMUNITY:

What if every neighborhood brought a team?

What if local businesses challenged one another to sponsor?

What if families made this part of their Thanksgiving tradition?

Imagine what we could accomplish together.

You don't have to run the fastest. You don't have to give the most. You just have to be willing to show up for our kids.

🧡 Because when our community steps up, our students move forward.

Register. Sponsor. Volunteer. Share. To access more information, our event sites are always onecau.se then a backslash /mvkids.

🚨❤️ **BREAKING NEWS! YOUR DONATION JUST DOUBLED!** ❤️🚨

**WE'RE MATCHING DONATIONS DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR!**

We are nearly **ONE-THIRD of the way** toward our goal of replacing the playground fence at McCordsville Elementary, and the **Mt. Vernon Education Foundation** is stepping up to help us get even closer!

🎉 **Beginning TODAY, Friday, October 9, at 4:00 PM, through Monday, October 12, at 9:00 PM**, the Foundation will match every donation **$1 for $1, up to a total of $2,500 in matching funds!**

That means:

❤️ You give $25 → It becomes $50!

❤️ You give $100 → It becomes $200!

❤️ You give $250 → It becomes $500!

❤️ You give $500 → It becomes $1,000!

**Together, we can turn $2,500 in community donations into $5,000 for our students!**

We've already raised **$10000 toward our $30,000 goal**, thanks to the generosity of local businesses, families, and community members.

Now we're asking everyone to help us keep that momentum going!

Because this project isn't just about replacing an aging fence.

**It's about the children on the other side of it.** ❤️

Imagine what we can accomplish if every family, neighbor, friend, and local business gives just a little this holiday weekend.

⏰ **THE MATCH STARTS TODAY AT 4 PM!** Are you a company, business, organization, or individual that wants to offer a match? If so, reach out to [email protected]. The MVEF is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit; all donations are tax-deductible. All donations will be acknowledged on site.

🎯 **DONATE HERE: https://onecau.se/fence**

Please SHARE this post, TAG a McCordsville business, and challenge a friend to join you!

**Let's unlock the entire $2,500 match before Monday night!**

❤️ **WOW! Now THIS is what community stepping up for kids looks like!**

**A HUGE $5,000 THANK YOU to New Life Lawn and Landscaping LLC!** 🎉

We are incredibly grateful to **New Life Lawn and Landscaping LLC** for making a generous **$5,000 donation** toward our **A Safer Tomorrow – McCordsville Elementary Fence Project!**

When we launched this campaign to raise $30,000 to replace the aging playground fence at McCordsville Elementary, we knew it would take a community coming together to make it happen.

And New Life Lawn and Landscaping just showed us what that looks like!

Their generosity represents so much more than a financial contribution. It's an investment in the safety of our students, the peace of mind of our families, and a school community where children can learn, play, and grow.

**Because it's not really about the fence. It's about the children on the other side of it.** ❤️

🌟 **Our $30,000 Goal**

🎉 **$5,000 from New Life Lawn and Landscaping LLC!**

Now we're inviting other businesses, families, and neighbors to join them!

**Who will help us build the next section?**

Every gift, large or small, brings us closer to our goal.

❤️ **Donate or become a community partner:**

To Jon Jacobi and his team at New Life Lawn & Landscape, thank you for leading by example and showing what it means to invest in the community where we live, work, and raise our children.

It’s just a fence… until you think about who is on the other side. ❤️ When we look at a fence by itself, it is just a plain old fence. But when we see a child on the other side, it helps tell the story of why that fence matters and who we are working to keep safe.

Every day at McCordsville Elementary, children run outside for recess—to climb, laugh, play with friends, and simply be kids.

Surrounding that playground is something they probably never think about.
A fence.

And they shouldn’t have to think about it. Keeping their school environment safe and secure is our job as adults—and as a community.

After years of service, the playground fence at McCordsville Elementary needs to be replaced. The cost of a new, durable black chain-link fence is approximately $30,000.

That’s a big number.

But imagine what happens when an entire community decides to build it together.
❤️ $25 helps build a foot of the fence.
❤️ $100 makes you a Fence Builder.
❤️ $500 makes you a Community Partner.
❤️ Businesses and organizations can sponsor entire sections.

And our first $850 has already been given! Along with another $2000 pledged, today is our launch!

Now we need you.
Because this isn’t really about chain link, posts, and gates.
It’s about the children on the other side of the fence.
It’s about creating a safe place for them to learn, play, and grow—and showing our kids what can happen when families, neighbors, and businesses come together for them.

Our goal: $30,000
Already raised: $2850
Together, we can build the rest.
Will you help us build A Safer Tomorrow for McCordsville Elementary? ❤️

Donate today: onecau.se/fence

And if you can’t give today, please share this post.

You never know who in your circle might want to help build the next piece.

A fence creates a boundary.
A community creates a safe place for children to grow. ❤️
