Public Hearing on changes to regulations concerning data centers among other items on the agenda for the Macon County Commissioner meeting Tuesday August 11at 6pm at the Macon County Courthouse. According to the county attorney, the idea is that a ban is a less sure way to stop data centers than restrictions, because a ban could be challenged in court. But restrictions have more chance of standing up in court. Therefore the idea is to restrict it so highly that no one wants to come here to build these sorts of data centers.

But there is already one member of the Macon County Planning Board who has admitted to signing a NDA. The town he previously worked for is now dealing with a Google data center and water issues. Years ago, this man was let go from this prior job and was not to apply for another county job ever again in his prior county because he allegedly deliberately submitted incorrect material to his boss and jeopardized a half million dollar water contract. Now they are scrambling for drinking water.

We need to take this very seriously and show up Tuesday. Data Centers are as great a threat as Flock surveillance and will ruin the environment.
