Our IAs, TAs, and paraeducators are a huge part of what keeps HMES moving every day.

They support learning, encourage students, help build routines, solve problems, bring calm to chaos, and step in wherever they’re needed often before anyone even has to ask.

Today, we’re putting the spotlight on the people who spend so much of their time supporting everyone else.

📣 SEAC: Special Education Advisory Committee

The purpose of SEAC is to give parents and other School Board appointees a voice in how school divisions provide services to students with disabilities. SEAC members provide reports and recommendations directly to the School Board.

Caught Learning at HMES! 💚💛
Mrs. Lewis joined Ms. Floyd’s class for another hands-on STEM challenge focused on designing solutions for cleaner water.

Students used Clixo to create their own ocean debris-cleaning tools, putting creativity, engineering, problem-solving, and environmental thinking into action as they imagined ways to remove trash and debris from the water.

We love seeing our Patriots on a mission to design, build, test, and think like engineers!

Waving our Patriots into the long weekend! 💚💛👋
Today, HMES staff showed up in their Fredericksburg City Schools and Hugh Mercer gear, so naturally I had to make the rounds and catch as many smiling faces as possible.

Thank you to everyone who stopped, waved, laughed, and tolerated being lightly chased down for the camera. 😂

We hope our HMES families have a safe, restful long weekend. We’ll see our Patriots back after Monday’s Yom Kippur holiday, ready to get back On a Mission!

Happy IT Professionals Day! 💻💚💛
Today, HMES is celebrating Mr. Long, the person who somehow appears whenever technology needs saving.
Whether a computer is frozen, a device has been dropped for the 14th time, or a ticket has just been submitted and he mysteriously shows up like the tech version of the Bat-Signal, Mr. Long helps keep our school connected and mission-ready.

Thank you, Mr. Long, for your patience, problem-solving, quick fixes, and behind-the-scenes support.
