🌟 Welcome to our incredible new administration team! 💙🐝

We couldn't be more excited to officially welcome our new principal, Jennifer Meyers, and our new assistant principal, Courtney Smith, to the Hartwood family!

They have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare our school for an amazing year ahead. Our PTA board is so grateful for their leadership, warmth, and partnership as we kick off the 2026–2027 school year together.

🎒 Was your mind on classrooms and cubbies last night? We completely get it!

It was absolutely incredible to see so many smiling faces at Open House yesterday! Hartwood is buzzing with energy, and we are so excited to officially kick off this school year with you.

We know last night was a whirlwind of finding classrooms, meeting teachers, catching up with friends, and filling out paperwork. If you didn't get a chance to stop by our PTA table, or if you forgot to snag the QR code on your way out, don't worry! You can join us online right now.

Starting Friday, August 7th through Sunday, August 9th, Virginia is hosting its annual 3-day Sales Tax Holiday! You can purchase qualifying items both in-store and online without paying state or local sales tax.

🛍️ What Qualifies for Tax Exemption?
👟 Clothing & Shoes: $100 or less per item (perfect for fall outfits and gym shoes!)
🎒 School Supplies, Backpacks & Lunchboxes: $20 or less per item

💡 Pro-Tip from your PTA: Tax-Free Weekend is the best time to stock up on extra glue sticks, pencils, and paper to set up a dedicated homework station at home or stock up on clothing that they just grew out of!

🏫 Open House is tonight, and your PTA can't wait to see you! ✨

Our incredible school administration and staff are getting everything ready to welcome our families back for Open House on Thursday, August 6th! It’s going to be a fantastic event for students to explore their classrooms, find their desks, and get excited for day one.

🌟 Meet Our New Principal! This evening is a wonderful opportunity to officially welcome and meet our brand-new principal, Jennifer Meyers! Be sure to give her a warm Hartwood welcome when you see her in the halls!

🗓️ OFFICIAL OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULE (Thursday, August 6th):
Kindergarten Introduction: 3:00 PM – 3:45 PM
Kindergarten Open House: 3:45 PM – 4:30 PM
All Grades (Last Names A–K): 4:00 PM – 4:45 PM
All Grades (Last Names L–Z): 5:15 PM – 6:00 PM

🤝 Who You’ll Find in the Building: While the school hosts the event, your PTA board will be there with a welcome table! Come say hi, ask questions, and learn about what we have planned for the year. We will also have:
-QR to sign up for membership
-QR code for our spirit wear store with Aloha Designs
-QR codes for our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram)
You’ll also be able to visit with: 🚌 Transportation 🍕 Cafeteria Staff 👟 YMCA SACC (School Age Child Care) ...and many other community partners!

🚗 School lots fill up very quickly! To make sure everyone has a safe and stress-free evening, please follow these parking rules:
✅ WHERE TO PARK: Main school lots, soccer fields behind the school, or the church parking lot right across the street.
❌ NO STREET PARKING: Please do NOT park on the main road. County enforcement is strict, and vehicles parked on the street may be ticketed or towed.
