Last night A-shift took in a first due fire involving multiple cars and a metal building. Initial reports of the fire didn’t provide a location, so crews were delayed while locating the incident scene. Once located, crews made an aggressive attack extinguishing the vehicles and building. There were no reported injuries.
Our water rescue team assisted the Virginia outdoor center today with deploying 188 individuals in 20 kayaks and 60 canoes from a meditation group from Caroline county today. MSU-12 remained in the area of the 5.8 miles they paddled on the Rappahannock river to ensure a safe return to all those involved.

Congratulations to Lt. D. Kelly! Yesterday, Lt. Kelly was recognized with the County Administrator’s Award for his work with a group of high school engineering students this past year.
12B hosted our families at the station tonight. It was great to get everyone together to share a meal and have some fun!

Today around 0100 hours this morning 1st battalion units were alerted for a residential fire in the 600 block of Payton Dr. Falmouth Engine 1 arrived on scene of a 2 story split foyer with fire showing from sides Charlie and Delta. Engine 12 arrived 2nd due a minute behind Engine 1 and immediately stretched a hoseline making the push through Side A knocking fire on the 2nd floor and the attic space. Crews had the fire under control within 30 minutes. One firefighter from Engine 1 was transported to the burn center with non life threatening burns.
Today Firefighter's Mason Myers and Brian Miller received their helmet Shields that shows they have completed all of their rookie task books. 12C and BC1 welcomes them to the station today.
Nicole and Naz from dogs east Search and rescue group assisted Stafford County Sheriff's office Search and Rescue team this past week by searching areas around the Rappahannock river. Here they were escorted by our water rescue team across the river to a large island.

For the past several months, Lt. D. Kelly has been working to mentor a group of engineering students at North Stafford High School. Last night, they had the opportunity to present their environmentally-friendly, back burning device for wildfires!
C shift was able to get out on the river today and train on our new water rescue inflatable NRS kayaks. Made for quick deployment and rapid reconnaissance of a hard to access area.
E12 was invited by Conway Elementary school to come back out to old forge for a community cookout and games. We had a blast showing kids the fire truck and playing games with everyone.
Rescue 1 and E12 got together today to play some basketball with the community at Old forge.

E12 was alerted at 8:14pm to a fire in the north battalion. Initial reports had one potential victim inside the residence. First arriving crews began extinguishing the fire and quickly cleared the residence confirming there was no one inside. Challenging conditions and multiple void spaces inside the residence created a deep seated fire that required extensive overhaul to extinguish. Ultimately, the fire was brought under control in approximately 2 hours.
E12 landed a medevac yesterday for a critical patient.

Yesterday Lt. Kelly and Master Technician Hersh from our water rescue team spent the afternoon in Richmond on the James river with RVA paddle sports learning how to better maneuver rafts through swift water.

Today C shift was able to spend some time in the REMS simulator working on intubations and mega codes (CPR). A great tool to help enhance the care our providers can provide. Stafford County Fire and Rescue
Engine 12 responded to a cargo van fire on the Warrenton Rd exit from 95. Thankfully there were no injuries. This is a challenging response area with all of the construction. Thanks for the assistance.
Between training on the Rappahannock river, landing helicopters and everything in between, E12 C shift has had a busy shift.
The January fitness challenge is underway. Members will be pushing a 150lb sled a distance of 100’ as many times as possible in a shift for the whole month. B-shift is off to a good start today with 60 reps. Even the Battalion Chief got in on the fun!

The December PT challenge is over and C-shift barely came out on top. Everyone put in work and completed the challenge. We hit 38,605 calories as a station. how do you compare?
