The Swimming Lesson Voucher Program is officially back open! 🏊

Eligible Florida families can receive FREE swim lessons for children ages 1-7 through certified swim instructors.

Swimming is a lifesaving skill that helps children build water safety skills and reduce the risk of drowning. Apply for your voucher at FloridaHealth.gov/WaterSmart.

The Gainesville Housing Authority will accept 2000 online pre-applications for the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waiting list.

🎄 Angel Tree Registration is Coming Soon! 🎄

If you are seeking Angel Tree Christmas Assistance for children ages 12 and under, please register during one of the following dates:

📅 Registration Dates • September 28 - October 1 • October 12 - October 15

🕘 Registration Hours • 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

✅ No appointment is necessary. Just come during registration hours with ALL required documents listed below.

⚠️ You must bring ALL of the following to be considered for assistance:

📌 Proof of identification for the head of household (Photo ID and Social Security Card)

📌 Social Security cards for everyone in the household

📌 Proof of all household income or non-income (Recent pay stubs, SNAP, TANF, SSI, SSDI, AFDC, or other government benefits) If you have no income, you must be prepared to show how bills are paid.

📌 Proof of all household expenses (Utilities, rent/mortgage, cell phone, etc.)

📌 Proof of residency (Lease or rental agreement) Must be an Alachua County resident.

📌 Birth certificates and Social Security cards for all children ages 12 and under requesting assistance

📌 Proof of guardianship (if applicant is not the parent)

📌 A toy wish list and clothing sizes for all children ages 12 and under

📌 Individual wish list items may not exceed $50 ❌ No cell phones ❌ No tablets/iPads ❌ No computers ❌ No gaming systems

📌 All documentation must be in printed or written form. We cannot accept information shown on a phone.

The Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) will open its Project-Based Voucher (PBV) Program Waiting List on:

📅 Wednesday, August 26, 2026
🕙 10:00 AM

✅ Only 200 online pre-applications will be accepted for four (4) bedroom units at:
🏡 The Grove at Sweetwater Preserve
🏡 Harbor Cove

Once 200 applications have been received, the waiting list will close immediately.

To qualify, applicants must:
✔️ Meet HUD income eligibility requirements
✔️ Have a household size of 7 or 8 persons
