🚨Active shooter response DRILL

Today, Gainesville Fire Rescue joined forces with Alachua County Fire Rescue, Gainesville Police Department, and the University Police Department for one of the largest multi-agency active shooter response drills our community has ever conducted.

This training represents four years of collaboration and growth alongside GPD — beginning with small-scale scenarios focused on learning how to move and operate together effectively under pressure. Each year, the exercise has expanded in complexity as all agencies continued sharpening their coordination, communication, and response capabilities.

This year’s exercise included more than 60 role players portraying a wide range of injuries and outcomes, creating a highly realistic environment designed to challenge first responders and strengthen lifesaving teamwork.

These trainings are critical to ensuring our fire, EMS, and law enforcement partners are prepared to respond quickly, safely, and effectively during high-stress emergencies. The dedication, professionalism, and cooperation displayed by every agency involved continue to strengthen the safety of our community.

Thank you to all participating agencies, role players, evaluators, and support staff who made this important training possible.
