Please write and send a postcard by June 12 to Representative Leverett and to Senator Hodges, the chairmen of the Georgia General Assembly’s upcoming June 17 Special Legislative Session, to ask for their leadership in promoting fairness to all the people of Georgia.

In addition to the determining how to replace the QR-code counting system on state ballots, the upcoming session plans to redraw Georgia’s Electoral Maps for State Legislature and Congressional Districts using the recent Supreme Court Decision (Louisiana v. Callais, ) as a reason to draw their own districts and choose their own constituents with little public oversight.

Let the chairmen know your concerns about manipulating districts in ways that silence the voices of people who live and work in Georgia and demand fairness.

We hope you will join us in Roosevelt Square on June 6, the anniversary of D-Day. From 11:00 a.m. - noon, we will hold a silent vigil in which we honor all who served, sacrificed, or performed acts of resistance during World War II. We will also encourage reflection on the importance of protecting the many freedoms they fought for that are precious today. Many of us will hold signs provided and inspired by historians and scholars that depict the characteristics of the authoritarianism that this brave generation recognized. Even if you don’t participate, please take a moment to walk through Roosevelt Park during the vigil.

We invite you to share photos and brief stories of family members who served, sacrificed, or resisted during World War II. We recognize that resistance took many forms. Some fought in uniform. Others resisted through acts of quiet courage. Please email your photos and brief description to us at mailto:[email protected]

We hope you will join us on June 6 from 11:00 a.m. – Noon in Roosevelt Square, downtown Gainesville, for a Silent Vigil of remembrance and resolve.
