Green Bay Southwest High School Southwest High School serves more than 1,000 students in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The heart and soul of Southwest High School is our academic achievement.

Green Bay Southwest High School’s motto, “With Courage and Determination, Together We Will…,” highlights the characteristics of effort and teamwork we believe is necessary to prepare students for their future. The hard work our students and staff put in continues to pay dividends for our community. Our state test scores increased over 10% in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies last year as compared to the previous year. Our school ACT composite average score remains a full point over the state average as we continue to increase the number of students taking the ACT test. With strong Advanced Placement and Concurrent College Enrollment Course programs, Southwest students are not only prepared for college, but enter college with credits that save their parents thousands of dollars. The spirit of Southwest High School is generated from our co-curricular activities. A wide range of successful athletic, musical, dramatic, academic, and service-orientated activities allow our students to prove themselves beyond the classroom. We commonly hear students say that these activities are their most memorable and why they feel most connected to friends and staff at Southwest High School. Our goal is to have every student in at least one co-curricular activity each year at Southwest. Whether students want to go to Harvard, UW-Madison or Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, or plan on entering the workforce or the military, Southwest provides the preparation they need to succeed!

Students in Wisconsin Natural Resources classes had the opportunity to attend the Great Lakes Logging and Heavy Equipment Expo at the Resch Center. They were able to meet various professionals in the industry to learn about the wide variety of careers offered and equipment used in the forest industry. We are thankful for The Forest Industry Safety & Training Alliance, Inc. for funding this trip!

Tim Vertz will be honored as an inductee into the Green Bay Area Public School District Hall of Fame on October 9, 2026. Tim, a Green Bay Southwest High School graduate, is an accomplished entrepreneur, community leader, and dedicated volunteer whose influence extends throughout Wisconsin and beyond.

A first-generation college graduate, Tim earned a master’s degree from Harvard University before building a career focused on helping businesses and communities thrive.

Marching bands from Green Bay East High School, Green Bay Preble High School, Green Bay Southwest High School and Green Bay West High School will perform at East High School’s City Stadium (1415 E Walnut Street) on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. 🎶

🥁 This program features the Homecoming Field Shows of the Marching Bands. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and admission is free.

Lettuce in our school lunch program is grown and harvested by students all school year, ensuring a fresh, sustainable product and hands on learning opportunities.
