🌱 The A.J. Garden Club is officially underway! 🥦🍠

We had such a great first Garden Club session on Monday! Our gardeners jumped right in with a busy afternoon:

🌿 Introductions + sharing our favorite fruits & veggies
🌿 A tour of our school garden and a review of our garden rules
🌿 Checked on the first graders’ squash and bush beans, which are growing like crazy!
🍠 Harvested SIX baskets of sweet potatoes!
🥦 Planted broccoli in our brand-new garden beds
💦 Watered our new plants with water guns — definitely a favorite!
🍠 Finished by tasting roasted sweet potatoes and talking about different ways we can prepare and enjoy the fruits and vegetables we grow

There’s something so special about watching our students get their hands dirty, learn where their food comes from, and get excited about growing (and tasting!) something themselves. 💚

We can’t wait to see what grows this year at the A.J. Whittenberg Garden Club! 🌱🤖

Greenville Federal Credit Union Grant = Tiny Vendors, Huge Adventures

Big news! 🎉 A.J. Whittenberg Elementary School of Engineering — Ms. Johnson — has been selected as a 2026–27 Teacher Grant recipient from the Greenville Federal Credit Union Foundation to support our 2nd grade Market Day!

The GFCU Foundation supports local youth and education across Greenville County, and we’re so grateful for their long-standing partnership with Greenville County Schools. This grant will help our students learn entrepreneurship, math, and teamwork in a fun, hands-on way. 🧮🛍️🤝

Ever seen science you can eat? 🍦

✨ Our 5th grade scientists at A.J. Whittenberg Elementary made ice cream in a bag while learning about solids, liquids, and gases. They watched thermal energy move from the mix into ice + salt—and voilà, ice cream! 📚🔬❤️

Curious minds + cold science = delicious results! 🍨🔬

Our A.J. Whittenberg Fun Run was a huge success thanks to our amazing volunteers and supportive community. Together we reached our $22,000 goal for capital improvements, classroom grants, field trip assistance, and school support. 🙌
