You've seen me post here and there, but to be real, I've never run for office before. So, my team and I have taken the time to organize and get my platform together. Now that primaries are over, I'd like to announce the formal launch of my campaign for Greenville County Council, District 19, centered on the working families in Berea, Sans Souci, City View, and Parker who have been consistently left behind by county leadership.
From our official press release:
"Dean is asking voters in District 19 a straightforward question: What has Greenville County actually delivered for working families in this district?
A registered member of the Choctaw Nation, Cody was born in New Mexico and moved to the Upstate at age five. After tragically losing his father in a car accident at just seven years old, Dean was raised by a single mother alongside three siblings. Cody was built from the ground up with a family story that wasn’t easy and that’s exactly why he gets it.
Dean’s platform is centered on affordable housing, transparent county spending, and economic policies that serve the people who actually live here. His campaign is backed by local progressive and civic organizations and is rooted in deep community ties across District 19.
District 19 has seen cuts to housing funding, the redirection of FILOT tax revenue away from Greenville County Schools, and continued stagnation on public transit, all policy failures that fall hardest on working-class and lower-income residents.. Dean says it is time for a different approach.
Dean understands that these aren't abstract policy debates, these are decisions that determine whether families can afford to stay in their homes, whether their kids have fully funded schools, and whether they can get to work without a car. This drives his vision of local leadership that is accountable to constituents, not to corporate interests.
