Tuesday evening, we proudly welcomed our newest members into the National Junior Honor Society during our induction ceremony. These students have demonstrated a commitment to scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship—and we couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments.

Congratulations to our newest inductees! We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make as you continue to lead, serve, and represent the Viking spirit.

🏗️ Teamwork in action in Mrs. Barnes’ Pathways class!

Students put their creativity, communication, and teamwork to the test with a paper tower challenge! Using just one piece of paper and tape, teams worked together to design and build the tallest freestanding structure they could.

The winning tower reached an impressive 59 inches tall! 🎉

A little paper, a little tape, and a whole lot of teamwork! 🧡💙

Nothing like a little more Viking spirit to greet our students each day! 🎨🖌️

We are so excited about our freshly painted front windows at Bayou View Middle School! Our very own Mrs. D’Angelo and Gulfport senior, Malin Dedeaux, helped create a bright, welcoming entrance for our Vikings. The windows tie into this year’s “Passport to Proficiency” theme, celebrating the journey our students are taking towards excellence and success!

A very special THANK YOU to the Kiwanis Club and Friends of BVMS helping make this project possible. We are so grateful for your support of our school and our students! 🧡💙

💃 A different kind of movement in Mrs. Bell’s Dance class!

Students took a break from dancing to put their knowledge of the human body to the test! Working with life-size muscle diagrams, students were given a random muscle and took turns placing it where they believed it belonged.

But there was a catch! The next student had to decide whether the placement was correct—or make a correction—before adding their own muscle to the diagram. 👏 Once everyone did it once, they kicked it up a notch and did it again…this time racing the clock! ⏱️

This hands-on activity helped students learn the major muscles and where they are located while making an important connection to dance. Understanding how their muscles work and move is an important part of understanding their own movement, strength, and technique as dancers!

📚 Learning, collaborating, and sharing ideas in Ms. Jones’ 6th grade ELA class!

Students worked in groups to read and annotate passages, identify the central idea, and find evidence to back up their thinking. Then, they put their ideas on chart paper and presented their work to the class.

The best part? Classmates got involved too—coming up to review the evidence and share whether they thought it really supported the group’s central idea. 🙌

Lots of teamwork, thoughtful discussion, and students learning from one another! 🧡💙

Time for our Weekly Teacher Spotlight 🌟

A huge shoutout to our 8th Grade Science teacher, Angela Lee, who truly went above and beyond during our first few days of the school year and continues to do so.

Not only did she handle the lack of AC in her classroom with incredible grace and patience, but she also passed an unannounced security test with flying colors, reinforced our school expectations, and spoke up for student safety. 👏

What makes Mrs. Lee so special is the genuine passion she has for her students—even when she’s off the clock. Her dedication to them doesn’t stop when the school day ends, and it shows in everything she does. ❤️

Thank you, Mrs. Lee, for being the amazing teacher you are, keeping your “cool” in the heat, and always putting your students first. We are so lucky to have you on our team! 💙🧡

🏆 Viking Spotlight!

We’re having so much fun celebrating our students with our new Viking Vouchers! Each week, teachers can recognize various students who stand out by showing kindness, positivity, great character, or major success in the classroom.

Each Viking Voucher goes into our weekly drawing, and one winner is selected from each grade level! 🎉 Our winners get to enjoy a special treat on Friday as a little celebration of the great things they’re doing at BVMS.

We are so excited to recognize our Week 2 Viking Voucher winners!

6th Grade- Myles M.
7th Grade- Kyler P.
8th Grade- Jaxon O.

Congratulations, Vikings! Keep giving us reasons to celebrate you! 🧡💙👏
