Hamilton Fire Department Receives Pet Oxygen Mask Kit in Honor of Dog B.O.N.E.S. Therapy Dog Kyzyl
The Hamilton Fire Department has received a reusable pet oxygen mask kit donated by Hamilton residents Barbara and Bill Hooper in honor of their Dog B.O.N.E.S. therapy dog, Kyzyl, a Siberian Husky. The kits are designed for use in fire or trauma emergencies for household animals of various sizes and species, including dogs, cats, lizards, ferrets, and rabbits.
The donation is part of the Pet O₂ Masks initiative launched last year by Perfect Paws Pet Ministry (https://allsaintsepiscopalnorthshore.org/perfect-paws-pet-ministry), a 16‑year‑old mission outreach of All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore in Danvers, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) Charities.
Through the initiative, Perfect Paws — which offers pet‑loss bereavement counseling, comfort, companionship, and community to anyone whose life has been shaped by an animal’s love — has already donated pet oxygen mask kits to fire departments across Boston’s North Shore, including Danvers, Beverly, and Wenham, and beyond. Each kit, valued at $125, includes specialized masks designed to deliver emergency oxygen to pets of different sizes and types experiencing smoke inhalation or trauma during house fires and other emergencies.
With nearly 30,000 fire incidents reported in Massachusetts last year, Perfect Paws continues to raise funds and awareness to help ensure local fire departments are equipped to care for all lives in an emergency — human and animal alike.
