Today we say goodbye to the man the myth the legend. After 52 years of continuous and dedicated service firefighter Dave Aquino has decided to retire at midnight tonight. Thank you Dave it has been an honor brother. Mary thank you for letting him serve all these years. It for sure will be different without you!

🚒 Special Thank You from the Hamlet Fire Department 🚒

The Hamlet Fire Department would like to give a special thank you to Firefighter Justin Miller for his incredible heart for our community. Justin had the idea to launch “Hopes for the Holidays” and didn’t just suggest it—he took it and ran with it.

With the help of many Hamlet Fire Department members, along with their wives and girlfriends, countless hours were spent gathering donations, shopping, organizing, and making sure this mission was a success. We are incredibly proud of the teamwork and dedication shown by everyone involved.

Because of this effort, 17 families and a total of 44 children were served this holiday season. ❤️

We would also like to extend our deepest thanks to the members of our community who stepped up to support this cause. Without everyone coming together, this would not have been achievable.

If you choose to celebrate, make smart decisions to protect yourself, your family, and others on the road. Our crews will be ready to serve if needed, but we’d much rather see everyone start the New Year safely.

🔥 Winter Fire Safety Reminder from Hamlet Fire Dept ❄️

As the cold sets in, please keep these quick safety tips in mind:

• Frozen pipes: Never use an open flame to thaw. Use warm air or towels.
• Space heaters: Keep 3 feet from anything that burns & plug directly into the wall.
• Christmas trees: Keep real trees watered and away from heat sources.
• Holiday lights: Check for damaged cords and turn them off at night.

🔥 It’s Fire Prevention Week! 🔥

This week, the Hamlet Fire Department wants to remind everyone that fire safety starts at home. Take a few minutes to:
✅ Test your smoke detectors and replace batteries if needed.
✅ Make sure everyone in your home knows at least two ways out of every room.
✅ Practice your family fire escape plan.
✅ Keep matches and lighters out of children’s reach.

Later this week, our firefighters will be visiting Oregon-Davis Elementary school to talk with students about fire safety and prevention — and of course, show off some of our gear and equipment! 🚒👩‍🚒
