We have received our ISO rating. Which is where the insurance companies decide what you pay for homeowners insurance based on fire protection. When we became a fire territory our rating was switched to a 10 which is the highest or worst rating. Basically they thought we didn’t have a department. We underwent a new audit in October of 2023 and it takes about 180 days to get the results and I’m proud to announce if you live within 1,000ft of a hydrant the new rating is a 4 which I believe is the highest in the county. The rating does go up ( become worse) the farther you live from town for lack of water supply and distance from the station. This is something we are working to improve. I would like to thank the members especially asst Chief Anderson for the hard work getting everything ready for the audit. The new ratings take effect in September! According to an insurance consultant I spoke with today this will save homeowners “several hundred dollars” in insurance. Thank you for bearing with us during this audit.

Are you yielding to flashing blue lights? Volunteer firefighters responding to an emergency in their personal vehicle will display flashing blue lights. Indiana law does not require you to yield the right of way, but would you want other motorists to yield the right of way if your house was on fire or your child was not breathing? Please do the right thing and yield the right away to volunteer firefighters. We also want to take this time to thank all volunteer firefighters for their dedicated service to their communities. We appreciate you!

Snow predictions are in the double digits, up to 20”, from local news outlets.
Please make sure your inlet and exhaust for your furnace, water heater, or any other appliance is cleared of all snow and ice.
If they become blocked by snow they can cause deadly carbon monoxide to build up in your house.

Let’s get a jump start. Replace them battery’s and test. Also go over your escape plan with your household.
