The Fire Department's philosophy is one of excellence in community service. The Fire Department is organized to serve the people of Homer and Kachemak City as the principal provider of fire, pre-hospital emergency medical care and other related services. Our programs are designed to prevent or mitigate the loss o
f life, harm to property and damage to the environment. As such the Fire Department shall:
Be dedicated to excellence and professionalism in all of its activities and strive to be flexible and innovative in meeting the needs of our community and the citizens we serve and protect; and
Be committed to injury prevention and all-hazards risk management and will endeavor to instill in the people of the community a desire to become full participants in their own protection through community education; and
Strive to maintain cost effective services that meet the needs of the community using sound proactive hazard management practices and principals; and
Manage the affairs of the Fire Department consistent with the values of commitment, trust, loyalty, confidentiality and professionalism; and

The purpose of Homer Volunteer Fire Department's page is to present matters of public interest in Homer to our residents, businesses and visitors. We welcome you to submit your questions, comments and concerns, but please note this is a moderated online discussion site and not a public forum. HVFD will not respond via Facebook to press inquiries. To contact HVFD please utilize contact information on Timeline. 10. Are subject to a legal privilege of confidentiality and are posted without the consent of all persons who may assert the privilege. HVFD reserves the right to restrict, remove and/or block any person, group, or entity submitting and/or repeatedly submitting comment(s)/posting(s) that violate the applicable terms and conditions.
