On Saturday, I was honored to join community and government leaders at the Hilton Hawaiian Village to celebrate the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.

Hawaiʻi’s Filipino community has contributed so much to the life, culture, and strength of our islands, and it was meaningful to come together in celebration of that history, resilience, and deep sense of community.

Mahalo to Philippine Consul General Arman Talbo and his team for organizing such a special celebration. Mahalo also to my colleagues Senator Rachelle Lamasao, Senator Joy San Buenaventura, and Council member Tyler Dos Santos-Tam for allowing me to be part of the certificate presentations.

Vibrant Hawaiʻi wrapped their 2026 annual training conference & I was glad to make it out to University of Hawaii-Hilo to learn & observe.

Attendance from across the state including teams like was great. Because we know government may and will not be able to respond immediately to all communities in times of emergency, this kind of community training is crucial.

Thank you to the many communities, Vibrant Hawaiʻi Hawaiʻi Community Foundation Hawaii Emergency Management for modeling & leading the way in community resiliency.

These are the leaders everyday who weave & create the resiliency of our communities. My apologies for the over 3 minute reel (which IG reminded me is not a good thing to post). Frankly, I don’t care. These communities & their leaders need to be recognized & celebrated by everyone & all our elected officials in Hawaii.

Mahalo Vibrant Hawaiʻi Hawaiʻi Community Foundation for supporting, building, & nurturing this leadership network & making all of our communities stronger through this work.

On Thursday, June 4, I held my final community dinner at Queen Ka’ahumanu Elementary School as the House Representative for District 26.

Mahalo to everyone who joined us for an evening of conversation, community, and reflection. Representing Makiki, Tantalus, Papakōlea, Punchbowl, and our surrounding neighborhoods has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

As I move forward, I will continue to keep my pledge to the people of Hawaiʻi: to protect and expand the rights of our people, to listen with humility, and to always work toward a better future for our community.

As I conclude 20 years of service at Hawaii House of Representatives, proudly representing Makiki, Tantalus, Papakōlea and Punchbowl, I wanted to express my gratitude for my colleagues, staffers, and family. Here’s what I told them several weeks ago on my last day of session.

As I move forward, I will always keep in mind my two core principles: Do the Right Thing and Do Better.

Mahalo to for the video.

Two Memorial Day services, one day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and their families who continue on. The words, the music, flyovers, beautiful wreaths & lei, & most importantly the people all made this day special.

Grateful also to the staff & organizers of the 75th Mayor’s Memorial Day Ceremony at the Pūowaina National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific & the Governor’s Memorial Day Service at the Hawaiʻi State Veterans Cemetery.
